Mikel Arteta: Everybody Hurz(eler)

Transfer policy was a disgrace. I don't know how much he's responsible for it.

This is it. He wanted a winger and striker, was he offered others? Probably but would they make the difference or just add to the problem?

It's a difficult one, the club don't want to pay above and beyond for players in January and that's also hurting us.

We better sign 2 forwards of massive quality in the summer.

I hope our new sporting director keeps this guy as far away as possible from our transfer dealings in the summer. Every signing from last summer has been pointless and hardly premier league level

Arteta wanted a striker and a winger and the club failed him what are you on about? If he had his way and got Nico and Sesko we probably win the league... This is what I mean by thick fans, there's no thought process here.

Our squad building has been horrendous when you deep. We've arguably regressed our attack and midfield from last year if you deep. Say what you want about Nketiah, Nelson, ESR and Vieira. But is swapping them for Sterling and Merino has not improved the team by any metric apart from Merino's cameo last week. Only plus is it's paved the way for the emergence of Nwaneri.

Our insistence on prioritising Calafiori above all else summer is looking more and more bizarre as time goes on especially since his performances have flattered to deceive to say the least. Only thing you can say is he causes a bit of chaos, is that really enough for a pricey LB?

I dunno how much is on Arteta, now much is on Edu, or anyone else in the board/recruitment staff, but we've absolutely made a mess of squad building arguably since 22/23 when we should've really kicked on by adding a proven goalscorer and bolstering the midfield. We've certainly not done the former and just swapped Xhaka for Rice. Argue till the cows come home who's better, but the fact is it's not that significant of an upgrade to justify it being the only serious midfield business we've done in two years.

Again, more thick comments. We went for Sesko first and didn't get him? Just because a signing comes in first doesn't mean they're priority.... It's a 3 month window FFS

The recruitment team and whoever signed off and said they're happy with the summer business. Ultimately if Arteta had a full squad and was in this position I'd be saying it's time for him to leave.

Many thick, emotional people will be saying Arteta out and I don't think that's fair. He's bought himself another season with the injuries.

Still tho injuries or not, squad building or not, we're looking like yet another trophyless season unless we do something special in Europe. A 5th successive trophyless campaign in all likelihood. Rightly or wrongly Arteta is gonna be judged for it.

If you want to blame the transfer window, blame last summer. That is where the real business is done.

January you can’t get much. I’d say missing out on someone like Asensio and possibly Rashford, both on loan, is worth getting upset about.

Frustrating result against a lucky West Ham team. We probably have lost too much momentum over the season and we pay for it with a top 4 finish.

The real judgement comes in the summer, until then let’s just close the season strong.

We knew what this season was going to be when no one was brought in this past transfer window. This isn’t the surprise or shock some are making it out to be.

We will likely still finish second, the board will (infuriatingly) pat themselves on the back for this and feel justified in their shrewdness.

There is much to be done in the summer, almost too much. I so badly want this team to be more than a nearly-done-it.

What the solutions now Mikel you don't have alot of choices maybe we need change of tactics until Saka and Martinelli return.

Because we ain't scoring goals with these forwards Ødegaard look so poor too Joover set pieces gone downhill too

Just play 352 season over anyway

Also this summer and January window you basically give up all season we even may drop out from top 4 if we not careful there still 12 games to go

I think the club are to blame for failing to sign basically all of his main attacking targets, but he’s also to blame for refusing to compromise and not going for alternatives.

The club gave him boatloads of money until he spent it all up and imbalanced the squad. They reigned it in to prevent him for overspending on more of the same.

He doesn't care that much about attackers as he does defenders and midfielders. That is just to keep the hounds off him to make it look like he does.

Defending, possession, duels, and corners. That's what he cares about and that is who he has signed in abundance.

This is the first year it has come back to finally haunt him. Which is good if anything to teach him that you can't just neglect the attack. Maybe this is the same moment he had years ago when Saliba went down and he has been trying to sure up the defense ever since. Will he do the same for the attack? We'll see.
