Mikel Arteta: Everybody Hurz(eler)

This is Arteta.

Adding more attacking players won't change his DNA.

He'll just stockpile more players and keep playing this style.

He'll probably win the league this year doing it, so why change?
And if he doesnt is that the final sign his style of football is unlikely to win the big trophies?

Strong squad and all rivals not at their peak, he wont get a better chance.

I think once you make the semi-finals of any competition you just have to go for it. I asked ChatGPT how Pep's earlier Man City sides approached the EFL Cup and it said that Pep would go pretty strong once they made the semi-finals and used their best XI in the Final.

That being said, our "B" team is still more than good enough to get a result at Stamford Bridge.
This is chelsea's biggest game this season - think they will go all out for this semi.

People (including *a lot* of Arsenal fans), fundamentally don't understand our system.
Or football in general. As much as they deny it, they follow the names not the teams. Fans in general want big names, often equating success to the name on the back of the kit, with the badge on the front being a nice touch.

Really, really liked how he pointed out asking other teams, such as Atleti, whether or not they think our attack is lacking.

Football is a team game, and it takes every player contributing across the entirety of the pitch to produce results. Are our attackers world beaters? Absolutely not. But they don't have to be.

Fans are mostly just reactionary, which is understandable especially during live games, due to the amount of emotions involved. However, echoing the same sentiment days afterwards wherein the adrenaline has worn off is weird, because you could rewatch these games and see our actions on the pitch and be able to make proper assessment without assumptions. Our buildup play this season is beautiful against low/mid blocks and majestic against attacking sides. Our direct play against attacking sides is also fantastic, hence the many goals in these games.

We have the most complete team in Europe. What we lack in the forward areas is clinical goal scoring edge, but that's to be expected due to the personnel we have there (and the club knows this and is evidently working on it). Nevertheless, we make up for it with team effort - everybody is expected to score just as everyone is expected to defend and everyone's happy.

Watch our corner routine and you'd see how the players keep conversing with each other and bang, the ball is in the net. It's not a coincidence. And the players seem to enjoy playing that way. To my surprise, Gyok isn't scoring (just after having a phenomenal year) and you're not seeing frustration in his face like most goals scorers would present. Everything seems to be working as designed and the results attest to it.

But well, fans have to be fans so as to fan the other fans to fan like they fan. Interpreted to mean: Agenda will have to agend in other for agenda to continue agending.

How about we prove something before we claim to have the most complete team in Europe. We haven’t won anything in years. We don’t deserve tags like that.

Yep, the only issue is making sure that every player is pulling their weight in terms of: finishing, creativity and in turning possession in a dangerous area into a shot let’s call that shot creating action ability (SCA). When your system is designed to share the burden then every player has to be a jack of all trades and contribute in all three areas or they start to stick out.

I think that’s where Havertz (shortly pre-injury wrt finishing, Martinelli (finishing in the league, creativity and SCA), Ødegaard (finishing) and Gyokeres (all three unfortunately) start to stick out.

When you don’t understand the system you view the way the attack functions as a bug when really the feature is working fine, it’s certain individuals who are the bugs. Even my super basic analysis has highlighted that where a bunch of our attackers fail to pull their weight is in terms of finishing chances and turning possession in a dangerous area into shots.

That’s why I’ve consistently said that Arteta’s system is more than good enough to win at the highest level, our issue is the quality of attackers. Would it be nice if he could consistently extract GA out of fairly limited players? Ofc but that would also put him on the Klopp and Wenger level of being one of the GOAT attacking managers. He’s not that guy and that’s fine, we just need to sign some top attackers.

Really want for him, fans and the players to get some trophy finally, we deserve that as a club, but i doubt that he is on any kind of pressure even if we stay with empty hands ?

Arsenal Quotes

When you start supporting a football club, you don’t support it because of the trophies, or a player, or history, you support it because you found yourself somewhere there; found a place where you belong.
