Mikel Arteta: Everybody Hurz(eler)

Don’t enjoy watching us these days, the last good football we played ( consistently) was 22/23. Since then he’s been obsessed with defend first then defend some more. You persist with it if it’s getting trophies and success, but there’s no way the club persist with this **** brand of football if it’s not bringing success.
Arteta is on very, very thin ice. Domestic cups shouldn’t save his job, it’s league/CL or sack for him!

You have to wonder what his assistants are telling him. Are they letting him know what he's doing is sabotage and he's ignoring them? Or, are they all yes men?
His assistants are yes men. No way he hires people who challenges him. I’m legit not even mad because he stole a win against Wolves last time and hasn’t learned anything

Wolves are down and had nothing to play for. After we scored they were not in it for 30 minutes and just wanted someone to put them out of their misery. The fact he couldn’t realise that and force his team to go for it says everything.

not only did we play with 2 DMs, we had 5 CBs on the pitch against wolves trying to hold on lool

The tactics today were the worst I've ever seen from Teta. Why did we go long at EVERY opportunity? When has Gyökeres ever convincingly won a header? What happened to playing football with our feet? Why did Zubimendi get 90 minutes when he couldn't make a single forward pass? Why did he bring on Calafiori instead of Mosquera? Why why why? That's all I end by saying come the end of every season with this guy at the helm.
Going long more frequently was fine in theory, particularly with the wet surface. I don't mind being more direct. With a 2 goal lead though, why continue to persist with Timber playing CF and being out of position every time we lost the ball? Why bring Jesus on if we were going to continue going long when he's never going to win the out balls that Gyok at least sometimes wins. Why bring Calafiori on instead of Nørgaard to play I don't know where when you're trying to see out a game where a lack of control in midfield is the issue?

These were the moves of someone losing his cool because a calm and sensible person would see how incongruous those moves were to what we were facing and how to address it.

Whilst I think Arteta is a fantastic manager, and he's done really well to get us into the position we're in, on days like this I do sometimes feel a bit like...

But at the same time, I don't think changing managers is always the right solution AND I truly believe that Arteta has the solution in his wheelhouse (because 22/23 Arsenal tells me he has it).

He just needs to recapture that, and let this team go off on teams that we're better than.
Looool you want to give him more time and money have you not seen enough

Arteta has looked nervous for the past couple of weeks which is filtering down to the players. Him being like this and losing his cool is hopefully a result of him knowing his job is at stake if it’s not him lifting the PL trophy in May.
Which is rightfully should be on the line now

Nah, he's fine tbh. If he leaves, it will be because he got an offer somewhere else. Not a chance this club sacks the guy who comfortably has us in the top 4 and in title races/cup finals.

If we win the Carling Cup but finish second, fans will say "He's won a trophy, now we've got over that hurdle, next year we'll dominate!"

If we don't, it will be the same as we heard last season. "This team has come close, put in the hours, we've matured and know how to handle title races so next year is our year".

Arteta basically has a job for life if he wants it.

Then we deserve this sh.t manager and sh.t football. We are a big club with small club mentality

He is under immense pressure, no doubt about it. But the thing is he absolutely has no excuses whatsoever. Club has backed him with everything - time and money. He is coming to the terms that he can't win despite the other challenging teams are not at their best. Liverpool drop off , he can't capitalize. Citeh drop off, he can't capitalize . He is coming to the realization that he is just not an elite manager to win the PL. He had the whole season of people questioning his lack of attacking play and he is not able to figure this out. He sees how all the lower quality sides are scoring, yet he simply doesn't want to instruct the team to do so. Complete failure. Hoping and praying opposition don't attack is a fools game he is playing while unwilling to do the same.

Hat trick of charity Fc memes today.

- first goal of the season for their fullback (or first goal in a lot of games?)
- debut goal for their academy player.
- the above stat.

Sigh

I've said it before on this forum but that loss to City away in 2023 killed him. After that, he became too conservative and fixated on winning the small margins. The 22/23 approach was correct just the team lacked experienced and depth.

The run-in in 23/24 is overrated too. We were always chasing, we don't win 16/18 if we're ahead at any point. We don't have the mentality. Our second goal against Everton on the final day of the season should've been disallowed anyway.
toally agree with this & at the same time he also struggle to replicate what zinny and xhaka bring into this team like 22/23 season

No trophies, awful football, players regress under him, kills youth. Tons of money blown. It's laughable he's had so much leeway from fans, there's no reason to keep him.

Being perfect in a god awful cl is meaningless, let's see if we actually win when it matters.

Tottenham sacked a guy who won them a bigger trophy than the league cup. If this guy gets to keep his job with nothing but a Carabao to show for this season then we have a less ambitious mindset than the Spuds. That would be it for me.

I am probably going to regret this but man I feel so ****ing low.

This was real bad. As bad as City coughing up a 2-0 lead to Sp**s.
bottled 2-0 against wolves when we are top of the league is worse than city bottled 2-0 lead against poor Sp**s because atleast Sp**s is their bogey team
