Mikel Arteta: His Way or The Highway

El Duderino

That's, like, your opinion, man.

He's not really a winger. We would have been better off with Nelson, but Arteta does not seem to trust him.

I think there is a reason why we've been linked with right wingers like Raphinha and Mudryk. It seems to be Saka or bust for Don Mike.

Which is something we've seen a lot from him, but there comes a point he needs to put the training wheels with the very expensive spinning rims aside and go it alone.

No point in renewing Nelson, et. al., if he's not going to be utilized.

Will be a sh*t way to go into the international break if he gets his annual hiding from City. Chelsea away straight after the break.

I just want to know why he keeps people like Nelson and Smith Rowe around if he doesn’t trust them. One of them could’ve started today.
I been saying there was no point in Nelson staying. He’s just stalling his career surely he doesn’t want to do this forever he’s 24 in December.

Chelsea looked decent yesterday as well. Caicedo, Enzo and Gallagher are starting to find their feet and shape and is definitely not a push over midfield

He’s a good tactician/coach but he’s fked the squad up here with the Xhaka->Havertz move. And there’s actually no one in the squad that can do the Xhaka role when you think about it. ESR etc are not b2b midfielders.

I just don’t understand how any manager can think we can have a midfield of Declan Rice and inshaAllah. It’s Declan and then a bunch of forwards basically.

This kind of goes back to a point I’ve made in the past - that Edu enables him too much and needs to be firmer. As much as I rate him, Arteta needs to be told “no” at times like anyone else and rn I don’t think there is anyone at the club who does this. Like I’m pretty sure the medical staff would want to say “no don’t play Saka” but they don’t have the courage to do it because he has been enabled to such an extent.

I think I’ve proper turned on him now. I really enjoyed what he had the team doing and how we were playing last season. It was at least reminiscent of Wengerball. But this stroke of his that we need to have absolute control, that he instructs the players to protect leads instead of going for it and demoralizing the opponent, the risk minimizing…

I ****ing hate it. Put out a team that plays beautiful and creative football. That progresses the ball through the lines with incisive passing and easy on the eye ball carrying. That breaks opponents’ defensive shapes instead of playing around it.

Results wise we’re doing very well but I just don’t enjoy watching us so far this year. To hell with his A2 and A3 and 468 shapes in a game. Have a clear positive idea and stick to it. Use players that are capable of executing on that idea instead of shoehorning in players you bought because of being a prestigious (small) **** and trying to prove you’re the second coming of whoever.

Just be a little nice ffs

Great post and this is why I never been fan. But last season he had a season everything went his way. I complained about it not being sustainable and the attack was not good enough. I constantly got 88 league goals thrown in my face. But his desire to control the game every aspect and not trust his players is why I can’t take to him. He coached the spontaneous instinct out of his player and the attack is always same patterns. This is why he has failed against teams like lens several times in the Europa league. Once they figure out our pattern of play. We can’t hurt them despite having nor gifted players because they are restricted

If a 2-1 loss away to Lens is what triggered you to turn on Arteta. Then you probably change your opinion on every insignificant whim.

Wait for the 2-1 win in the reverse fixture and silly Seb will be back on board.

Except for the fact if Tomiyasu's effort goes in the result is very different. Every bad result the dickheads type of fancy paragraphs for why Arteta shouldn't be our manager (it should be De Zerbi because he never gets bad results, oh wait Brighton were ****ed sideways 6-1 by Villa so we cant hire him). We need a manager who wins every game and is immune to lackluster away performances against committed teams driven on by intense uspport formt he home crowd.

This result is a bad one, but there is nothing about this game that provides 'insight' into why Arteta should be sakced and replaced by some c unt you wont even mention. Go on, name an Arteta replacement? And tell me why this manager would never lose 2-1 away to a Lens.

Is that you Farzad? The same guy who said he would replace Arteta with.....Ten Hag

I'm not an unjust man, which is why I'll give him his due for turning the club around & bringing a measure of belief back.

He won't be sacked, instead he'll be given the same modicum of respect & be allowed to walk like Wenger. But I believe he's taken us as far as he can. He's so tactically inflexible it's painful!!

No shame though. Sure, he's no Arthur Pendragon but he's no court jester either.

He's the modern Gawain. A noble figure but one ultimately destined to be the underling to someone greater.

Last season to Artetas credit, we looked like a real top side for 75% of the season. This season we've not. We're backing to looking like a team challenging top 4 positions. Which is bizarre on the surface because we only lost Xhaka and brought in Rice and Havertz. Surely that cannot have such a drop off effect.

The team and how it operates doesn't look the same, still capable but last season we looked unstoppable. Of course teams have adapted, but it seems more than that.
