I don’t know why people are disliking your post since it’s your preferred philosophy I like what Cesc said there too tbf as that’s exactly what I’d expect from a manager.

But we are seeing so much analysis and preparation these days, that you cannot just move right back to freedom in the final third without any level of preparation. There has to be a level of pre-planning to manipulate defensive lines.

I like what Cesc says, but it needs to be seen at the highest level, consistently, delivering results to justify a complete shift across again.

I still think there could be a balance of both tbf that’s why it’ll be interesting to see how Cesc sets up his team. The analysis and stats side of things has to remain imo as not using those resources will ultimately put you at a disadvantage however the point I was getting at is that there are successful managers who aren’t outdated at the top level who are adopting the approach he’s on about. Carlo Ancelotti is the prime example.

Whenever I watch Real Madrid play it’s a lot more free flowing and giving a chance for players to express themselves than say Pep’s rigid and robotic approach. I know some will say Pep completely dominated his side last season but these things go in phases, give it a year or so and someone will muster something up to combat this dry football.

I know. AM clearly still not grasping the fact that the very best players move around if they aren't playing for a winning side. Imagine still holding a grudge against Cesc, one of the best players i've seen in an Arsenal shirt.

In regards to Alonso, Arteta said similar when he took over, he said he wants to build a team with a mixture of Pep and Klopp. We saw this last season, we'd have Liverpools high intensity and fast starts with Citys control. He's gone so far the other way this season, there is no pace or intensity in the side. no direct play, just control, patterns, patience.

Personally, i'd like to go back to last seasons style of football, the front 3 and Ødegaard seemed to have more freedom to move around.

The thing that bugs me is the complete reluctance to have another option. At times, an attacking overlapping LB could help use so much. It would allow Martinelli to drift in and combine with the CF. You could then have the option of playing Zinchenko LCM aswell. He'll be a lot better than Vieira and Havertz there, at least, for now.

Fabregas wouldn't bat an eye if Chelsea had asked him to stay with them once he retired. He is just not seen as a legend there.

People have short memories on how much twearking Fabregas did for Barcelona, he could've left with his head held up and fans would've been fine with it, just look at Henry and Barcelona.

No way should Cesc be allowed back to the club in an official capacity unless it is totally merit based. & approvied by Arteta. Cesc isnt an Arsenal legend, nor is RVP, is these two want to become managers and want a place to learn their trade, then Chelsea and Man United are options.

The entire clubs needs to be ruthless with players who decided to leave. Why was Alex Song invited back? If he wants to come to the Emirates he should buy a ticket.

Have no real no ill feelings towards Cesc, was arguably our last legend here (before his move to Chelsea) and one of the best players I have ever watched...from 2004-2010 it was insane how good he was, puts every other current "playmaker" in the league to shame pretty much...shows how good he was to win just one cup here and still someone like me (who puts ALOT of weight in trophies won to determine your legacy) to rate him as highly as I used to.

Though the move to the Chavs has to knock him down a peg here, you can't play for them when he did and be a legend at Arsenal anymore.

Quite sad about that, he should be beloved here with how he performed for us, but now he's just some kinda weird cult player here.

It is what it is, I guess ..do think he cares about the club to be honest, but you can't really make the mistakes he did and he totally forgiven.

Doubt he will even get to a point where he manages us either, can't see him ever coming back to Arsenal in a prominent way.
