Rice is going United or Chelsea. It’s an open secret at this point. We are not and never will be interested.

Wonder if we’d consider Kalvin Phillips? I don’t think he’s a major upgrade over Xhaka myself though or would work with him.

I liked the look of Anguissa at Fulham last year and he’s been playing every game for Napoli this year.

So far our summer business looks terrible if we’re basing this on our priorities.

Ben White, Ødegaard and Lokonga all weren’t necessary signings. Add the fact that we signed a player that looks more comfortable at CB as opposed to RB. Heck even Tavares could be added to that list since we could have signed a starting LB to bench Tierney.

Our short term needs should have been placed right at the top of our priorities after finishing 8th. Have we really improved our starting eleven from last season after spending 100m+? Doesn’t look like it.
I don’t think our entire business is poor. I would like to think under a competent manager with proper standards we churn out something good on a weekly basis. It might mean rearranging some positions but it could work.

Auba
Martinelli-ESR-Saka
Partey-White
Tierney-Gabriel-Tomiyasu-AMN
Ramsdale.

Tomiyasu is a centre back playing out right back. At least move him central. He doesn’t need another CB to hold his hand unlike White. AMN is a more natural fit at fullback and less awkward in tight spaces than Tomiyasu. Xhaka will start most games but White is not a PL CB to me in a back four. He can getaway as a RB or DM but not CB for me. I know Auba and Martinelli are similar but I think we need more consistent outlets.

KP is a Leeds lad, no? Remember his agent saying that he only wanted to play there for the forseeable. Think he's there for the next two, or at least as long as Bielsa is there.

That team sums up how poor our business was tbh. We splashed out 50m on a player that you’ve got playing in midfield and he’s not even a specialist in that position.

I agree with you about Tomiyasu playing at CB and that being his best position but surely if we played Saliba instead, the drop off wouldn’t have been that big. That’s 67m that could have been used elsewhere. Add Ødegaard’s fee too since he’s not in your line up and you’re looking at 100m+ wasted on players who weren’t needed.

“My philosophy will be clear,” he said. “I want the football to be expressive, entertaining. I cannot have a concept of football where everything is based on the opposition.

“What we have done in terms of performances compared to last year, the way the team is, the identity of the team, [the difference] is night and day. “But results wise it has not been [what we wanted] over 38 games. We have managed to things we haven't for five years, winning against the top teams. But we are not where we want to be. “In Europe we were very close, an inch, a post, dictates failure or success. That's what we have done.”

"I think we changed the energy at this club. I think we brought the team and the fans together, which wasn't an easy thing to do. And then, on the playing side, I think we are starting to see some signs of how I want the team to play, how I want it to behave, and the type of passion and commitment that the players have to show under me."

All his statements, what he wants to bring into this club and where he wants to go. It's not like we expected things getting better in some weeks or months, but he is now here for nearly 2 years.

In the first weeks there was a lot of passion on the pitch, but it got less with every week. At the end you can say, that it was just a typical "new manager bounce" after everything was on the bottom after the last months with Emery. Happens often in football.

The reality is, that we are playing the most boring and uninspired football in the league. We are just reacting in most of the games, we have no plan to score goals and once we face a better team, all our "defensive stability" is lost.

It's just sick, how much time we are waisting with him. Most of the clubs are changing the managers after maximum 3 years even after a succesfull time. While we already lost 2 years and the club still hopes, that the project from Arteta will finally start.
What a lying bastard. The fans have no respect for themselves giving this fraud time and patience when he flat out lied to us all. No respect whatsoever for the fans of this club.

I called him a liar fairly early on and one poster in particular got quite upset. It's been evident for quite a while. He can coach finer details and you see an improvement but he cannot manage a squad. His style doesn't result in any cohesion between the 11. He has to go really

It's crazy how he moved away from a 3-4-3, that he mostly had a plan with...to a 4-2-3-1, with a crap style of play.

I went easy on Arteta for the first 6 months of last season, as I thought our team didn't have the attacking players to really do much...but I feel we do have quite a decent team now, tbh.

As I said...we don't have a great team, that should be challenging for the title...or a very good team, that should be going for Champions League...but I feel we have a good team that should be getting into Europa and playing much better football than it is.

I will let him play park the bus/counter attacking against the Top Four, but we should be dominating more of the teams outside that group.

I've never ever wished actual death upon someone, but if Mikel Arteta had a blocked nose for the rest of his life I literally wouldn't give a sh*t.
