Mikel Arteta: The Real Deal

Should Arteta’s position as manager be under threat if we don’t win the PL or CL?

We always play our best football under Arteta when we can defend/press in a 442 and attacking in a 3251.

Myles essentially offering us what Zinchenko did in 22/23 (at a much higher level) I think is a bit of a game change for us. We’ve missed that extra technician in the middle for a while now.

I posted exactly this in the MLS thread - we've gone back to the Partey-Zinchenko pivot of 22/23 but we've also got Rice as well. MLS has been a cheat code.

People understated how important Zinchenko was. MLS will also be targeted because Timber leaves no prisoners and doesn't move in and out of position, so most of our goals will come down our left. It's just a question of whether people are willing to risk accept it. We've already seen signs of it since MLS has come in.

Hopefully it will allow us to attack in a similar way to 22/23, where we had threat down both left and right. A top class left winger also will facilitate this.

The Ødegaard/Saka/White trio will still be in full effect sooner or later, doubt we'll be so one sided.

MLS and Timber has been absurdly good but people forget guys like White and Calafiori also offer quality attacking input when they play, we're blessed right now honestly.

The difference is that they're targeting MLS because he's 18 learning positional sense in that role on the job. They targeted Zinchenko because he doesn't know how to defend and lacks the physical tools to not get bullied on vertical passes over the top.

The gaps in MLS' game can be closed because they're just related to experience and have nothing to do with game intelligence or physicality.

The gaps in Zinchenko's game can't be closed because they're physical and he doesn't know basic things like how to maintain an offside trap at his big age. You can't fix that. He's the Onana of defenders.

Exactly, it's simple lyrics, location based so will appeal to the hardcore born and bred fans and is easy for fans to sing along to.

In my opinion It should stay our song after the Arteta regime has gone.

I mean, sure, but only in name. I don't think any of it relates to me or the area at all.

The most realistic thing about it is a nepo baby using forced cockney rhyming slang and wearing a flat cap.

I cannot stop thinking why we didn't get a striker in loan to help us the rest of the season. If the team won the last game we would be 7 points behind Liverpool with the possibility to short that to 4 if we win them. That's putting real pressure on them. No we are still 9 points behind which is a lot. Means they need to lose 3 game and Arsenal don't lose a single point.
