Mikel Arteta: Top Drawer

Should Arteta’s position as manager be under threat if we don’t win the PL or CL?

The sexuals are nowhere to be found. I said it if he benched Zinny and canned his stupid inverted fullback fetish we wouldn’t get broken down. I predicted that Zinny starting would cost us, it was obvious; he is targeted by every team. If i can see it why can’t Arteta. Only winning CL can salvage another failed season

Are we going to talk about how Emery always smokes this guy

Always?

Smoked?

They rode their luck for large parts of this game mate. Had a better second half today I would say, but I wouldnt say smoked.

Emery is a good coach, knows how to set up to nullify you. He had the better of Arteta this season, but fine margins.

Tough day at the office. It shows you the margin for error is practically zero when you're competing against Manchester City. Arteta's error rate is non-zero but that is true of every manager under the sun including even Pep, Klopp, and Emery. Easy for us to judge with hindsight. I am sure the Villa fans can think of mistakes Emery has made in the last 10 weeks and same with Klopp etc.

I am disappointed, and I don't think we'll win anything this year. But we will pick ourselves up. Sports resembles life, and sometimes--most of the time--you aren't going to win and you're going to make errors. We're a young team and we're growing. Easy to lose perspective, but I think it's been a great year and hopefully we can pull out an upset in Munich.

Going forward, I hope Arteta learns some lessons and we'll never see Zinchenko in an Arsenal shirt after this campaign. The squad needs strengthening and I hope we find a few gems in the summer.

I do think this year shows that City's dominance is dampening the beauty of this competition. Pep has more resources, a better squad, and is a better manager (he may even be the GOAT), and they might win back to back trebles for all we know. It would be very unproductive to fire Arteta because he can't compete with this juggernaut. I don't know who can take Arsenal, with our resources, to beat City and Liverpool at the moment.

Smoked is a stretch, but the record isn't good.

2nd half in isolation was smokey settings though I can't lie, when I saw Aston Villa playing out the back I was actually laughing at them but credit to Emery he stuck to his plan with inferior players.

So many teams come here and pack the middle and get slapped anyways.

Just so needless. We had a clear formula that was working perfectly in the league. You play Jesus in the CL where he performs and you play Martinelli or Trossard in the league, in both instances with Havertz at 9. You play Kiwi or Tomi at LB because Zinchenko is a liability. White has been inverting since he's obsessed with doing that, there's zero need for Zinchenko at all. Just totally self inflicted stupidity from a guy who has been basically perfect for 4 months and I just can't understand it.
Said in the match thread. He was probably rewarding them for his contribution in the Bayern game. He should have shown his ruthless streak when it really matters. He got soft

His ideas were poor today from beginning to end.

Just a bad time for the entire squad to slump. In reality, I didn’t see City losing this. Time to focus on Champions league and see if we can snap out of this.

And that in and of itself is stupid because if you can reward, you should punish and ZInchenko is never punished despite always conceding chances to the opponent.

Arteta said first half was one of the best we had which I agree with. He was asked why Ødegaard came off he said he had a little something and didn't elaborate.

Would make sense.

Don't often agree with Merson but he was spot on that Arteta played himself today. Hoodwinked by small cameos, changed his team, leaving him with no one to turn to if things go south.

Yes it would be.

I'll be honest; I like to think of myself of somebody that calls it how I see it, ofc how I see it may differ from others, but it does mean if I have a grievance with Arteta I will air it out and I've said time and time again that I don't agree with every thing Arteta does.

The non waffle version is that I'll be honest with my views and not try to conform to what others are saying. I won't praise Arteta if I think he's f*cked up, and I don't believe there's anything wrong with that.

With that said overall I undoubtedly believe he is the right manager for Arsenal currently and I can't really see anyone at the moment doing as well as he's been doing (apart from Pep, Klopp or Alonso...but even with Alonso, there's a discussion to be had).

This isn't bias either because for a long time I wanted him out I'll be honest, but what he's done since mid 2021/22 (that City game at home was a turning point for me icl), has really changed my overall view on him (again, even if I still have my grievances with some of the things he does).

We need to solve this end of season shakiness though, I think we've been better this year but that wobble wobble is still there.

All work he doing sadly late in season all collapse We 10-1-1 last 12 league so blaming Mikel is unnecessary. Just he need to not make things worse still 6 games to go let get few more wins finish the season with 80+ points at least

Only his subs were late should've make it like in 55 minute that the problem with him he seeing things gone stale should have get Jorginho Martinelli and Tomi by that time and not wasted more than 20 minutes even tho with them on pitch made zero difference

Needs to work on his squad management, manage minutes better etc throughout the whole season. We look dead by this point of the season

He says we lacked momentum and patience at certain times.
He blames our poor finishing and says we then have to ensure that we don't concede. When asked if our failure yo score started yo play on our minds, hecsays that's a question for the players. Ode has a "little issue". He challenges the players to react to this blow. He says today was going to happen and we have to react. He says we can only control what we do ourselves now. He says there nothing we can do about City. He was swaying as he spoke and I think his tinkering/nerves has transmitted to the players.
Merse says City will now reel off the games. City's Pl chances climbed from 41 percent yesterday to 71 percent today! Kolo is still a little hopeful and says focus and don't waste emotion.

Bottler manager and bottler team. Same every run in. That's without his poor decisions today
There is a certain genius who has been telling everyone on here that Mik is a bottler. Whoever that guy is he deserves a medal for putting up with widespread idiocy of the masses. That he is tactically inept and rates players based on his emotions.

Arsenal Quotes

This is a big moment of happiness...we waited a long time for this and the happiness is linked sometimes with the suffering, and the time that you have to wait....this was more important than all the other (trophies) we have twice won the double, but were not under pressure then like we were today.
