Mikel Arteta: Top Drawer

Should Arteta’s position as manager be under threat if we don’t win the PL or CL?

Biggest improvement in Arteta has to be the way he’s developed Nwaneri and MLS this season, because last season we were all complaining that he doesn’t trust the youth. They been a breath of fresh air.

Can’t beat City, can’t identify talent, doesn’t know what he’s doing with keepers, team doesn’t score goals, doesn’t give game time to youngsters, can’t rotate etc. One by one these criticisms against him have been put to rest. The final one left is to win a big trophy. It’s a big fkin ask but he’s shown enough to believe we can do it with him as manager.

Our best chance is in Europe. Never in my memory since Arteta have we been a top 5 or 6 spender in transfers in Europe. In old days we were behind clubs in England, Spanish giants, Bayern, and three clubs in Italy as well. No bent English refs there. Plus Europe’s big clubs are in even bigger financial shambles than England. Financial playing field now tilted to England. Real, Barca, Bayern, Italy are shells of themselves in comparison to recent history. Real is still Real but they have been unconvincing by their lofty standards.

I think we have a great chance in the CL but it’s never that simple. I thought we were clear favorites in 03/04 with our invincible team through to the quarters and all the big teams being knocked out yet we somehow contrived to lose to a poor Chelsea side with Porto and Monaco making the final.

That's true. He managed them well and managed the injury-ridden season so good as well.

It's telling that the focus is now shifting solely on external stuff (we need a signing or two) than on internal ("why doesn't Arteta do X").

A good DoF probably pushes us to the very top but I doubt it will happen.

Never said it was simple we just have very little chance at league. We are definitely a long shot in Cl also

Club will stick by him no matter what long term, a really special coach and thankfully all the important people making the decisions recognise this and will be backing him for a long while.

He still gets **** on here constantly by numerous posters, genuinely can't take anyone's opinion on football seriously if they think this guy doesn't know what he's doing.

I don’t think he knows what he’s doing with squad building tbf 👀

I specifically said coaching. I think he’s a brilliant coach. I’d like him to have a proper DoF though.

That's, like, your opinion, man.

Go to josh and tell him to buy striker or you gonna leave soon. This was the season to win title and they let you down

You deserve better I don't care what everyone here says but push your owners to get you quality upfront scoring 5 goals doesn't hide the fact we still need quality there and difference makers
Bull crap the owners have given him money to spend. They don’t interfere with the team selection either. The reason we are far from the title has nothing to do with them but rather Arteta.

Does far mean something different on your planet?
6 points behind with the Opp having a game in hand meaning possible 9 points advantage. Add GD in it and it’s the equivalent of 12points ahead.

That’s pretty far when challenging for the title. Had we been in a 3-6 point range and played equal amount of games along with close GD it would be a different story.

As it is we are pretty far from winning. That wasn’t even the point of the post. The point is you can’t blame the owners for the way the team has played that’s down to the players and the manager. Yousif was deflecting in his previous post by making it seem that Arteta has not been given resources.
