Mikel Arteta: Top Drawer

Should Arteta’s position as manager be under threat if we don’t win the PL or CL?

We came up short against Newcastle and Man United as well. No matter how you twist it we never had the attacking talent and firepower to seriously compete this season. I’m not gonna lie to myself and say if Havertz was around things would be different when he single handily eliminated us from both cups
I can't be arsed to see his flimsy ass getting bundled over by powerhouse defenders when he returns tbh.

I think it's a shame we have had to resort to playing Havertz at CF. Take each striker playing for a top 3 club in the three biggest leagues, is Havertz the worse?

Our squad building needs some serious examination.

One Attacking midfielder.

No signings on the left wing in how many years?

Who thought Sterling would be a good back up? Our back ups in general are awful. Arteta needs to stop rummaging around City and Chelsea's bins for their cast offs.

A lot of full backs, yet we had to play an 18 year old there for half a season more. What does it say that Arteta doesnt trust Zinchenko or Tierney? We got really lucky with the rise of MLS and Nwaneri, otherwise this season would have been a lot worse.
I can't disagree with anything you've posted. I hope Berta has Kroenke's ear and can impose a prime Graham/Wenger squad build. For now, I hope we fluke our way to a first CL 🙏

No complaints next season, on very thin ice. He can't complain about attackers and simply not okay any of the options.

I see us linked with Zubi, Huijsen and Joan Garcia which would be over £100M. This club better be preparing a £300M summer because we need a LW, striker and AM.

He is apparently the third highest paid manager in world football right now after signing a new deal. Is his performance worthy of that? How has he managed to convince the board and the management, I will never know. Kroenkes must love that hair. 🤔

Simeone has won the league (twice?) fighting with the likes of Real and Barca, copa del rey, and the europa league (twice?), needless to talk about Guardiola. Mik?

He's one of the top 4 teams in Europe. So it depends how you're viewing it.

I guess you mean top 4 in terms of income/revenues. In terms of trophies, we have been nowhere close to the top. But i guess with the likes of David Moyes in the top 5, it doesnt matter.

I guess its all about a sustainable business model for the Kroenkes. Get their profits and dividends from a club based in london with a global fan base. If the model is successful as it is, why bother with any kind of disruption.

I mean right now this season based on the CL run. Income/revenue he's also massively improved of course. That's probably a big reason why KSE will have him on a lot of money, he's almost doubled the revenue of the club in 5 years.

Ya have to agree with some of the takes here. It’s clear in these 2 semi finals our attacking potency is fram from elite and might well be our downfall in the CL too.

And yet the strongest links are defensive players. Come on now ffs

Arteta aint going anywhere. Think he is over achieving the targets the board and owners have set.

It doesn’t work
Like that. Unless you believe Dortmund was top 2 teams in Europe last season despite finishing 5th in bundesliga.

We aren’t finishing 5th in the PL tho, are we.

We just smashed the world number 1 team to pieces a couple of weeks ago ffs

We went from a Europa League level team to competing for the title every year and the Semis of the CL.

The investment has a lot to do with it as well, but come on now.

Why are we ranked above Liverpool? Specially if we get knocked out by same team? They also finished ahead of us in the group stages

He absolutely ran Saka, Ødegaard, Saliba and Gabriel into the ground for 2-3 years straight. This season's injuries were inevitable and hopefully a massive lesson to Arteta and the club. Recruit better players in all areas of the pitch so you're not scared to rotate.

My first ever football memory was Charlie George's double winning goal in 71. After that game; I just became an Arsenal fan.
