Mikel Arteta: Top Drawer

Should Arteta’s position as manager be under threat if we don’t win the PL or CL?

And I didn't check this thread for a while, however regarding the discussions on past few pages, it depends on the perception on how someone reads into the intention of the message.

As for if by using the term Tetasexual, I never thought it was used in derogatory way in that it is to kick someone down, I never think it is used like that. It is just a humorous way to differentiate between those who support the manager and what he does; and those who have doubts and would like him to be challenged a bit from the top brass in our club.

We had that in Arsène era, with the WOBs who were ruthless and despicable in that they even directed threats, mocked the manager and players and organized all kinds of public campaigns to pressure our most successful manager. We all know how that went, and it was ugly from whichever angle you look at it.

And as for such tags, you can freely call me Arsenesexual or WengerSexual, whether you mean it in positive or negative way, I don't mind one bit. Even my avi and tagline are there to highlight that.

The moment Arteta wins a PL I am fully on ArtetaSexual train as well
A CL would be a sweet bonus on top of it.
Just like hetero, homo, bi sexuals. In this case people who is attracted to Mikel Artetas. Is not an insult just an sexual orientation.

Jokes aside, Emery didn't get the same treatment nor privileges and that's what I hate from Tetas fanbase, the lack of criticism.

Emery was barely wanted by Raul who signed players Emery didn't even like and refused to play. Raul figured Nosferatu could win a Europa League and get Arsenal back into CL quickly while Raul reshuffled the squad and found a manager he really wanted. Raul made the mistake of thinking he could operate like City skimming off the top when the Kroenkes are probably the biggest misers in PL.

And Emery lost the dressing room. Our players even stopped celebrating goals. That's the death knell for any manager. What are we supposed to do then?

These outers are in a rare win win scenario though. If we have a good transfer window and finally win one of the big 2 next season, they'll just say it's due to the money and time spent and anyone could have done it yada yada and just totally discredit arteta 😁

if he only win one major trophy next season that is mean he only win 1 major trophy in 6 season , so why arteta outers have to give credit to him ??? that is not arsenal standard when the fact even george graham won 2 major trophy premier league in 6 season

He has flaws, but Arteta is a good manager and most teams would covet him. This is simply the reality. To me, the disappointment is that we didn’t win the league title after being so close two years in a row and being clear favorites.

Though I do think we had an amazing amount of strange luck in the league, I do blame the manager for not signing the right players that could have taken us over the top given such a strong foundation. He always does something unconventional to undermine himself and I am not sure if he can get beyond this.

With that said, the summer signings will be an indicator of the clubs intent and I fully expect top attackers to come. Given this, I think he has one more season to win the league before changes are inevitable.
This is the crux of Arteta’s woes. He tries too hard to think outside the box when it comes to player recruitment and ends up suffering for it. Arteta likes a challenge and isn't afraid to go after unpopular or unconventional targets: Ramsdale, Willian, Merino, Kai, etc. When we needed a CF, he chose to invest heavily in Jesus and Kai. Despite spurts of high quality, their shortcomings are obvious and we are left wondering if it was even worth it. A change in environment can do wonders for some players, but in time, they will always revert back to their usual level. A pig in lipstick is still a pig.

He doesn’t seem to have what it takes to win the kind of trophies that we are yearning for.

I’d take reaching some domestic finals, securing Champions League qualification, and playing attractive, Wenger football (which we should be). Of course, I want us to win the league and CL, but understand how difficult it is to win both.

Given what we’ve spent, we should’ve at least won a league or FA Cup and made a couple finals by now. This team is built to win, it just might need an elite manager to steer the ship.

He also tries to hard to be clever and convert players. I’m not sure how many players we’ve play outside their normal or established positions since he’s come in but there are a lot. It’s one thing occasionally as cover but some players, like MLS for example, have played there all season.

It’s like he’s obsessed with being seen as innovative and creative but tbh I think it’s been counter-productive and it’s a big part of the reason we have such an unbalanced squad full of gaps.

Really wonder if Ange winning an European trophy on 2 seasons is still not enough to dispel such logic. With Amorim I'm pretty sure it can be dismissed as United being United or something.

Slot winning a PL on his first season clearly did nothing, just made people go in luck related delusions

we have not won 1 of the big 2 in the last 21 years. So 1 in 6 is ok. We're not entitled to win CL/PL every year. Only during first part of Wenger, we have ever done that possibly.

but he should does that early because he should win premier league in 23/24 (if he can beat fulham 10 men at home) & should win major trophy in 24/25, we should get 2 major trophy maximum or atleast 1

if he win only 1 major trophy next season at the same time also win fa cup + carabao which mean win treble then i agree 1 major trophy in 6 is ok

Again it is not one of the big 2 trophies I mentioned. By that logic Arteta won a trophy 6 months in to his career while Ange took 2 seasons for a trophy (and for which we are over qualified to be in  )

And Arteta would have been sacked here if we finished 16th and Europa final back in 22/23 (the last time we played Europa) and I'm sure no one here would have been satisfied with that even if he won it then (while being 16th)

Re Slot, congrats to him. He has done a great job indeed by adapting quickly to the league. But he took a team from 3rd (who were leading the PL till March in the previous season) to a title. Arteta has been handling a title challenger team only in the past 2 seasons. Before that he has taken a team from 11th till here.

treble is a big ask as anything can happen in these KO tournaments especially if we rotate in early stages. Hopefully we do a double - the Wenger special.

same with george graham when took over arsenal first time, at that time arsenal situation trophyless major trophy for 18 years but he still can deliver 2 major trophy premier league in 6 season (deliver 1 major trophy in his third season)
