He has to change it in these games. There's absolutely no point persisting with inverted fullbacks when teams put all the outfield players behind the ball and play narrow. If you are going to do it you need someone with a better eye for a pass than Xhaka. City do it with players like De Bruyne and Bernado Silva.

By throwing in Vieira who is left footed but inferior player to Xhaka you are not doing anything.

Bring Trossard in that space, change the team shape/dynamic, he cuts in to the middle - Tierny on to overlap, more space for Martinelli to do his thing etc.

Or go 4-4-2 Eddie Gabi up top for low block Tierny - Tomi to overlap, Trossard as a LW, make them rethnik their shape, bring chaos etc.

Change the starting XI up for City. We’re too predictable.

Tierney and Trossard are different players to Zin and Martinelli.

He has to start Trossard. Trossard at least makes a team think about committing 2 or 3 men to stopping Saka. White also has to be dropped. It's not just that he looks bad, he looks disinterested and that is unforgivable with what's at stake. He has to be bold enough to make some tough decisions. This isn't good enough and he's being far too passive in addressing the issues presenting themselves.

He'd even have been better off just moving Zinchenko into Xhaka's role and putting Tierney on at left back to offer overlaps.

Yeah I don't get it. If you've got overlapping fullbacks they'd have to commit more men to defend out wide and then you open up more space in the middle of the pitch. At the minute all teams have to do is double up on Martinelli and then shift over when he plays it inside to Zinchenko or Xhaka.

This is the problem. He should have started today, as should Tomi. Martinelli and White have not looked good in weeks. Arteta should be out of the thinking phase and in the doing phase. At this rate, by the time he gets to doing we'll be trying to scrape 2nd place.
