Mikel Arteta: Winner 🤴

This match is what it is. Another draw would be dismal as well.

Second guessing Arteta… If you play Eze at 10 and Martinelli on the outside, instead of Ødegaard as a second 6, I think you win this match.

Eze is a goal threat and Martinelli can defend the back post.

Of course Martinelli plays so poorly as a starter, it creates the dilemma in the first place.

His Villarreal team was better than Arsenal in 20/21

Did nothing wrong today, nothing.

This wasn't a game to bring on Ethan (far too inexperienced) nor was it one to bring on Nørgaard (too slow). Saka had to come off as he was on a yellow with Martinez doing all he can to get him sent off. Leo isn't fit enough to last a whole half of football, as is Rice and Zubi looks spent.

The lack of rotation vs Brentford is what's more of an issue....hindsight and all that.
Ethan has the ability to create an opportunity out of nothing. You don't keep players like these on the bench when you need a goal.

Made absolutely no sense. What makes this worse is that he tends to keep Saka on for games we've already pretty beaten, but he decides to take him off today when he was cooking. Strange.

Yup, he played the full 90 vs Sp**s when we were 4-1 up. Could he not just given us another 10 mins? I would get it if he was off his game but Saka was killing Maatsen.

Tbf overall it wasn't his fault. Id of started Eze and Nelli with Gyok. He did try todo something which initially paid off. But we were very sloppy.

Yeah he definitely won't be happy how we defending away from home 5 goals conceded last 3 away games is his nightmare but the good thing we scoring alot i believe since coming back we scored 11 goals in 5 games 10 from open play too

I see he's allowed that little rat Ox to train with the club.

Mikel is a bit slow. When you have 3 CB out, then you should know that you might concede goals, and adjust gameplan to play more creative and attacking to get more goals and leave Rice to sit and protect the backline. Or play a deep block and counterattack with pace. There was literally zero change of tactics to reflect the changed situation and the tired legs. The manager and coach needs to step up and do a better job. He seems to have learnt one template from Guardiola and just applies it nonstop, (and run the players to the ground doing it)

I think in isolation you could make a case of each of the Sunderland, Chelsea and Villa results not being total disasters. The concern for me now is the pattern. That's 3 aways games on the bounce without a win, dropped 7 points, conceded 5 goals.

Our next away games are Everton, who are on a great run of form this season and who are record against them away is generally terrible. 1 win away in 8 years. And then Bournemouth, who granted have fallen off since their very good start to the season but are still 7th on home form and have only lost 1 home game this season (coincidentally to Everton).

That’s two losses now, the average losses for a pl winning team is like four right?
Trickiest fixtures out of the way, easier back nine for him now, to speak in frisbee golf terms (regular golf is for wankers and thieves)

Losses happens, Villa are a great team with an outstanding manager
