Nowadays, but even before, there was a silly theory of, “You can be great without winning.” For me, it's totally silly. It goes against the nature of sport, because in sport, the objective is to win.​

I don’t like that [stylistic criticism]. I don’t agree with that. I think people work and try to win with the best qualities that your team can have. In relation to Arsenal, I believe that if Arsenal tried to be a second Man City, probably they wouldn't win. So they won. You have to respect the winners.

I think if you're playing unexciting football and not winning then criticism is understandable.

Now really isn't the time to be going after Arteta for aesthetics, he is delivering the results.

If aesthetics are the most important thing, go watch synchronised swimming or ice skating, where it's more art than serious sport.

Feels like the way the game is going, there isn't as much room anymore for creative players, as there used to be. Every team is fit, can play in a low block for 90 mins, there is extensive video analysis to neutralize teams.

The strong emphasis from most teams on set-pieces is just a consequence of this, becoming a more and more important weapon to break down theses stubborn teams.

It’s insane to me because we hadn’t turned up in about 2 decades and now he’s doing it year after year. I appreciate Arteta. He’s done so much for the club. Criticize his brand of football these past two seasons, but he’s only just beginning.

I understand we needed to win for the first time in 22 years. It was like a dormant nut that needed to get out any which way. For Mik security is/was the end all be all, especially with all the noise of bottling twice, he just needed to get it over the line. He finally has created that wiggle room and can breathe. Im sure he'll display a more attractive style especially if he gets the personnel for it.

No one gives a sh*t about ‘Wengerball’ it’s been almost 10 years since Arsenal left, time to get over it.

Plus ‘Wengerball’ had us getting humiliated every season in the Champions League while now we’re top 3 time Europe at least.

Idk man I definitely like attractive football. Which by the way doesn't automatically mean not having a backbone. We now comfortably have a proper proper structure, so that will not be jeopardized anyways.. At times last season we really did play some boring football though, and as I said it's completely justifiable why we did that.


And I am completely get that solidity is a way bigger achievement than just sexy football which a mid table team in Europe can easily replicate.
