Mikel Merino: Like a Meri-new Signing

Ughh Arsenal fans are tiresome.

This chap has had 5 games for us and the abuse he is getting.

I know why Arsenal fans are the most hated in the country.

I remember we "abuse" the same for F.Vieira. Let's hope the abuse will turn out to be more Havertz than Vieira

I ask myself the question, did ESR had to go for this guy? Also was Edu/Arteta blind watching the Euros? Clearly Fabian Ruiz was the Spanish midfielder shining through the tournament or at least Zubimendi who resembles Jorginho.

For a Spanish guy, he lacks the technicality to play in the midfield. When you put him next to Rice, we have a more physical midfield duo "Elneny and Flamini". Even a washed Partey seems to be more mobile than this guy.

Clearly he will ride the bench till his contract expires. A shame as a proper midfielder would have transformed us into a force.

Merino is not the issue ( at least not for now ) All of you are looking for a cheap scapegoat for the **** results we had. Give the guy some time to adapt and see how the midfield will look once Ødegaard returns to the starting 11.

Do you know how bad of a signing you have to be for your DoF to call it quits?

All the age thing told me was that Merino wasn’t seen as the final form of our midfield. I still think he’s a good player to have in the squad though but it means we still haven’t fixed the left 8 and it’s really pissing me off.

Essays are my thing
He's a squad level player bought for squad player money who is being bedded in in the absence of others. If he ends up playing every week when we have a fitter squad, and doesn't exceed our initial expectations, then its time to complain.

Until then, he is a useful rotation player doing useful rotation things. Sure the balance is off, but I'm not sure Ødegaard missing 3 months and Partey playing every minute was something anyone would have predicted for the first half of our season.

Still too soon to write him off. I have seen some nice touches and passes from him. He would not be my first choice buy but I think people are being harsh to a player coming into a new league with an injury. The El Neny comparisons are daft. He is a technical player just not fast. He is also dealing with a midfield who lacks it’s only creative player in Ode.

Thinks he's better than Havertz.

Merino being outed as a dirty Arteta signing so A-M can't blame him on Edu come on

The worst signings we had are all guys Mik forced on club. Kai, jesus, zinny, and if Merino doesn’t go well this one. He can’t rate players except emotionally. Ps I still think it is too harsh and soon on Merino he has to be given a fair run before judged as a poor signing

He is depth right? If so, not a bad signing, we needed reliable depth. The primary issue is we needed a dynamic progressive starter in the midfield in addition to him.

Arsenal Quotes

Arsène Wenger's idea is not only to play good football. It's to play good football to win. In my day, we knew that with our style we could hurt teams and win trophies too. But we did it our way, with the positional game, passing, movement.
