Should Arteta’s position as manager be under threat if we don’t win the PL or CL?

I hope Mikel goes to bed every night punching his pillow with regret that he allowed that salt bae thing to actually happen, seeing that pic at the top of the thread kills me everytime 😅

Makes it a little harder to gloat in here not gonna lie...what was he thinking!?

I thought coneboy was something to do with his hair, cos the other nickname is legohead. Still very immature either way.

Out of interest, why does his little criticisms bother you? I find this constant need to have 100% consensus for Arteta appreciation very weird.

If you don't like Arteta by now no amount of success will matter at this point.

Simple answer, they don't. I know he's clueless but it does become a borefest if all anyone reads is negativity especially when we're decimating teams.

Yes, but one system can becomes predictable. Arteta hasn't won anything since he started spending. Real Madrid, the most successful Champions League side this decade, aren't wedded to a specific approach; it's all about getting the best players and winning.

I understand that with clubs like Arsenal, Ajax, and Barcelona, it's different as they are broadly renowned for their style and approach. However, when I see clubs like Everton and Burnley trying to play possession football, its annoying. It goes against their identity and doesn't resonate with their respective fanbases.
Real Madrid are wedded to a specific approach. It's buying the best players in the world and playing attacking football. It was true in the days of Di Stefano and Puskas, and it's still true today.

TherzaDB10 nailed it, btw.

We haven't been favourites to win anything since 2005.
Let’s see we will know in a few weeks i hope Arteta surprises me. He has not been successful mainly because of his own mistakes. I hope he completely flips narrative

I’m fascinated at how he handles the run in. Our final 4 away games are Brighton, Wolves, Sp**s and United while hopefully having European games to contend with. That’s pretty brutal.

Harsh to say but bar Liverpool we’ve played against some real weak sides since the turn of the year who’ve had absolutely nothing for us.

It’s undeniable that we’re a very good side but I think the next step is psychological. We’ve kind of frozen the past two seasons when things have got serious so I’m sitting back and seeing how it all plays out. Bring it on!

In next few weeks we will see if Mik has the chops to grow and win big trophies. Only reason he already hasn’t is because of his own decisions as these are really ordinary and weak versions of City and Lfc. Last year was a two horse race and City had lowest point total under Pep and he still couldn’t close despite a big lead. Maybe being a bit of a dark horse and lacking the weight of expectations will end up helping us. But unfortunately i think we will have another trophy less season; hopefully i am wrong

Not having a shot against Porto in a KO fixture is not a good look, especially considering his cup record is atrociously bad. But we should turn that around in the 2nd leg.

Yes, i mean Porto is a very ordinary almost Europa level team. I actually think we will put 3 or 4 on them at the carpet. Mik struggles in knockout ties because he is not good at making game time adjustments or changing up on the fly. He is not a tactician despite what popular opinion on him is. Nothing he does tactically is new; it is stuff Klopp and Pep have been doing for years. When opposing coach has weeks to prepare and gameplan you see what happened against Porto. Mik has no answers

In the last part of the season City went to a 13-1-0 spree before the title was guaranteed.

Pretty silly if you assume this young team that overperformed over your and most expectations, should win against proven experienced winners who go on a crazy run. Especially when the thin quality Arsenal squad got injuries to important players.

Our team was older than the Porto team too.

We did 34 points second half, Europa league form. Young teams win trophies all the time if they are good enough. We lost because the manager constructed a team with Tomy and F all as our defensive bench. We do a respectable, not world beating 40 points second half we are champions of England.

Still we're competing with them thanks to our great manager! Sad that some of our own "fans" downplay what we have done based on spending without understanding that everyone around us are also spending.

Those figures sound way off, Liverpools entire wage bill is reported to be not far off 134m.

What was your prediction for Arsenal's team before the season to finish in EPL?

City lost the last game, but would have likely won it if the title challenge was on. They were clearly the best team over the season, just like expected.

Arteta and the young team overperformed over anyone's expectations. Have you heard of a thing called FFP and how it affects squad building?

Yeah I wonder where the figures are from. The guy being quoted is just a Utd fan YouTuber like the AFTV lot, not some reliable journo.

Arsenal Quotes

A team can attack for too long. The most opportune time for scoring is immediately after repelling an attack, because opponents are then strung out in the wrong half of the field. All the men are expected to play to plan, but not so as to stifle individuality
