Mikel Starteta Wars - Phase IV: A Newaneri Hope

Should Arteta’s position as manager be under threat if we don’t win the PL or CL?

Now everybody can see it.

We slow our transition by design, and it is obvious that this is accoding to Arteta's instructions.
We always let opposition get back into shape and as a consequence, we face low block.
Arteta's "domination".
We didn't play like this in season 2022/23
This has to stop.

Doesn’t Rate Any Of Our Attackers
For someone who’s never won a trophy in his management career, he’s incredibly arrogant and unlikeable.

Btw absolutely no neutrals like this team. Taking forever to take every single throw in, every free kick every corner. Who TF thought this was a good idea?

He’s never won anything, we can’t attack, and we’re a very annoying team. Now there isn’t even really defensive solidity to fall back on. He’s on borrowed time.

Huh? he won an F.A cup, granted it wasn't "his team", but it still counts, agree with your other points though, we've lost our solidity and he has lost it somewhat in recent weeks.

We've haven't been able to reliably attack against a half decent side for donkeys years. Probably since we had RVP if I am honest. This goes way back to pre-arteta, and I would say this iteration just is just a reliance on Saka rather than Auba. We are a bit better now because we smash minnows, and score goals in different ways but we haven't raised the ceiling in attack.

We tried to get Vlahovic, Raphina, Mudryk and Sesko. We bought Jesus and Havertz for a hefty sum. The ambition and the money is there but we are cautious and probably right to be so post Pepe.

Getting burnt like that leaves a lasting memory. Look at the amount of 80m flops littered around the Premier League. Isak is the only one justifying his price tag.

Bruh it’s been yeaaaaars since we bought him. It’s time for everyone, especially the club, to move the fk on. We ain’t doing **** if we won’t spend on attackers.

I agree... but I am saying that there is a argument for caution. Would you rather spend £120m on proven player like Isak or buy three misses at £60m each.

Isak… doesn’t this go against your argument though? I’m not sure I’m following you.

I've got too much to say after that disgraceful performance but 1-2 things I will say after getting up at 2am to watch that pathetic performance live is, after sitting on the fence for a few months now regarding Arteta is I want him gone, that was absolutely pathetic to see us not be able to beat a team with 10 men for over a half of football. I want Havertz out aswell but no, Arteta won't do that because he adores him & will always stick by him. I cannot believe he kept him on all game & let him take the 2nd penalty. Our poor academy kids will probably do better & show more enthusiasm but obviously Arteta doesn't rate our academy highly enough. Was a great opportunity for Nathan Butler to get his debut for the last 10 minutes & extra time at least.

If he wants us to keep playing that set piece, slow passing possession based football then so be it which is ridiculous, I fell in love with the Gunners years ago with the great attacking fast paced exciting football we had for a while under Wenger, I want us to at least start taking shots from outside the box at times but it seems he's against that too. All he wants us to do is cross it in for headers & tap ins. A shot will eventually catch teams off guard & get a deflection in eventually if they do it out of the blue. We can't head the ball at all anyway!

ARTETA OUT!!!
Arteta you have made an enemy out of Australia - the games are just too early in the morning for such lifeless football.

My dad doesnt follow Arsenal or football but watched Arsenal play Ipswich with me one morning around Christmas. He hadnt watched a game since the Wenger days and was shocked saying "this is Arsenal now and you are winning like this" as we slowly played the ball around in a U shape for 90 mins.

The odds of buying three "misses" at £60m are extremely low. Once you go above £50m you generally tend to have some semblance of guaranteed quality, the only reason why you think there's an endless graveyard of flops is because they get a lot of media attention when they do flop.

Simply go down the list of fairly expensive transfers in recent years and you'll find way more cases of "yeah we could use him" than "flops".

It's not sustainable to always wait for a player to hit it big in the Prem. There's a reason why a lot of people don't think Rice was worth it at his price despite being the closest thing to guaranteed success you could possible buy given his years of great performances in the league etc, one transfer at that price simply doesn't raise the ceiling the same way 3-4 players around £35m being successes does.

People being a bit too dramatic over the FA Cup. Arsène won 3 in 4 years and was getting booed out the stadium.
Think its more nature of the defeat and the repeating patterns.

Aside from 2020 we haven't really gone very deep in any cup which is horrible(We're still technically in a semi in the carabao)

Losing to City and Liverpool is one thing but we were so awful against an awful Utd side before the sending off.

He's had a lot of time and money to fix the squad, I think overall he has done well but the time and money investment should get us more than just a few 2nd place campaigns and early cup exits.

Arsenal Quotes

I often relive those 49 undefeated matches. I do believe in signs to a certain extent, and as I was born in 1949, I sometimes tell myself it was our destiny to lose the 50th. Those 49 matches are etched within me and within each player: it is something fundamental, a triumph born out of passion.
