Nah we’d get 40-50m+ eyes closed with Martinelli. He’s still young and more importantly just about everyone can see that he would do well in a team that plays quick, vertical and chaotic football. It’s just that Artetaball is the exact opposite of all those things.

I really doubt that. His wages alone would scare off the majority of teams, and the teams that could take on his wages couldn't justify £40m+ at the same time, the overall package is just too much.

Don't necessarily disagree that he'd do quite well elsewhere but for £50m and his wages you'd expect him to be the star man for almost every team in the world, and he just isn't that. You're relying on like 4-5 specific clubs being interested to get anywhere close to that money. Teams a tier below the very top can't afford it, especially not outside the Prem.

Things like that annoy me, ngl.

Firstly you are trying to throw our greatest trophy winning team ever kinda under the bus, to protect a bunch of players who ultimately have won us nothing...which is a bit of a disgrace as you should be 100% loyal to your best/successful teams, see every other fanbase do this but our weird one.

Secondly points don't matter in this context, what matters is opportunity...you can't can know how many points a team would get in a different season, too many variables to consider...you can't just say "X team got more points than Y team so they are better", style/quality of opponents/motive/playing out from the back now suiting forward and making scoring easier/etc have to all be factored in.

All I know is after drawing v City last season the club needed to win 9 games in a row to win the Championship, completely back the Invincibles to do that when needed.

Really we should do that. Don't get me wrong Trossard has been a good buy and contributed but he's a moments player. He rarely has good games overall tbh. Ideally he's a super sub type, not a starter.

Martinelli for all his limitations had a higher floor than Trossard. Even when he's out of sorts you get a hell of a shift out of him workrate wise, Trossard just doesn't have the legs or defensive acumen to do that.

You need that outlet ball on the wing also and that's what the pace of Martinelli offers.

When we have Saka, Ødegaard and Trossard they're great technical players but it's very one paced, you miss having a Martinelli type out there.

Yeah my preference as I’ve said would be to get rid of Trossard first for this exact reason.

I’d go as far as to say I’m inceptioning ideas in your head at this point:

Martinelli’s floor is much higher than Trossards - he at least tracks back and always has his speed. When Trossard is off it the floor is really ground zero.

They both must go. But I’d ship Trossard out first.
