Mikel Starteta Wars - Phase V: The Empire's Firing Blanks

Should Arteta’s position as manager be under threat if we don’t win the PL or CL?

I'm not sure what your tolerance for Lee gunner acolytes is, there is plenty of hatred for Mikel to fill your boots with, funny place to scroll but very reactionary, even more then AM.
First thing I see when clicking that link:

The 2022/23 team finished second and Mikel repaid them by signing an attacking version of Rob Holding.

The best thing to happen this season is that the rose-tinted glasses fell off from some notoriously positive communities such as r/gunners. Now we can finally see pleas to stop playing North London Forever, or criticising transfers, tactics, the board, etc.

Toxic positivity is dangerous long term because it creates a comfort zone and an atmosphere of apologists, which is ideal for guys like Kroenkes to stay idle and pick up the goodies.

There needs to be consistent pressure and criticism for the people in power for anything proactive to happen or we'll be sliding into obscurity once again in the next couple of years. With or without Arteta.
Yep. That subreddit is so ****ing cringe. I bet there isn't one fan there older than 25. People's standards are low because they never experienced our successful era first-hand.

And the incessant nut-riding of our terribly out of sorts captain needs to ****ing cease.

I love the place honestly, very stupid opinions most of the time but sometimes hilariously on the nose with the current state of the team and club.

Fully agree. Certain posters in here were the same. This season was needed to remind everyone close doesn’t mean you are there and the last step is always the hardest. No more 91 league goals nothing wrong with our attack smug responses

Likewise I'm sure there are plenty of fans on here who started supporting in earnest during the Wenger golden eras. People's expectations are unrealistic because they never experienced our being really rubbish first hand....

And the incessant ****ting on our better players simply because they are off form or not some wet dream ideal signing needs to ****ing cease.....

There are over-the-top people at both ends of the spectrum, but some things were blatantly obvious to see when it comes to squad management. Even two summers ago.

The result and performance were awful. let's not beat around the bush. It was unacceptable. Plenty of deserved criticism for Arteta too.

Nothings ever in perspective with this fanbase though. We didn't become the best team in the world because we spanked Man City 5-1 and we aren't awful because Newcastle handily beat us in a cup no-one cares about.

We've got a good squad with some flaws / weaknesses. The same is true of the manager.

Hopefully both will develop.

We've still got a title race and the CL to fight for. It's not the time for throwing in the towel.

I hope we don't get Isak simply because I don't want Arteta to be rewarded for throwing away entire transfer windows for one player. Arteta needs to be agile in the market. Learn that there are more players in the world than Isak and Williams.

We were linked to a whole host of other players in the summer and in the recent window. Sesko, Raphinha, Watkins, Gyokeres, Vlahovic. I dont think Arteta didn’t want to sign anyone we just couldn’t get the deals done. Not sure how much blame you can assign to Arteta for that.

I want us to have the best team possible. Anything else is just agenda bullshit

This account is largely Arsenal fan baiting though, so not in good faith.

Literally every Twitter account is baiting pretty much every football fan of every team lol...I do agree what that tweet though.

I have read that some fans think it's great that the team can go on a mini vacation to the UAE so the players can get a rest and Arteta can think things through. But we can go to Dubai because we went out of the FA cup against United. So for me its kind of sad that we can't play any games this weekend. The FA cup is our cup and i rather win it than watching the players riding camels in the middle east. The fans should be angry that we are out of the cup, not happy that Arteta will work on his tan.

Gotta get away and recharge so we can not win the Premier League and Champions League when we get back, hate our fans 😅

Arsenal Quotes

Ian Wright was the incredible striker for whom those around him sometimes found hard to control especially the opponents. He was an extrovert, hyperactive, and had endured an extremely hard life. His playing style was instinctive, and he had that killer instinct, a player like no other.
