We need to move on im sorry

Him staying or getting extending is not a sign that he is keeping his place in the pecking order, it just means we’re not dumping him while he’s injured.

We will still go big for a midfielder this summer if not 2.

Such a panicky jittery fanbase we have, jeez 😅

Nothing panicky about it, filling up squad space.

So its sentiment. Ffs. None of the top top top managers like Fergie, Pep or Mourinho would do this. I get that it's a classy gesture, but its stuff like this that holds us back. Plus it would be better for Mo if he was playing. What chance will he have when we buy a further MF player in the summer ?
How long did Fergie stick with Fletcher despite his chronic illness? I think Fergie had a long history of sticking with injury prone players for ages. Wes Brown, Owen Hargreaves, Louis Saha etc. This sort of things happens more often that not.

I don’t really care if Elneny gets a new contract while his rehabilitation continues. He is not one of our highest earners and will see serious game time now he’s effectively 4th/5th choice midfielder. He might even be pushed to 6th if we get the starting midfielder in the summer.

Hope he makes a full recovery. As a second tier back up we needed better, as third tier depth with the players we have around him, he can do the job.

I'm very pleased to read this, he's always out in 100% effort with us whenever called upon, never whinged when he doesn't get as much time as others, he deserves another contract with us imo. I don't care he's never been a regular starter player for us but he's always put in a solid effort for us when called upon. I'll always love El Neny no matter what.

I get it Mo's a good lad and has been loyal to Arsenal but what does loyalty mean here? He's turned down going to lesser clubs on what would be lesser money in Turkey or wherever, it's not like he's sacrificed anything for Arsenal

There is a middle ground though. Keep him on a rolling contract ( not squad registered) up till he's regained match fitness and found another club to move to on a free to.

People love the romance of it now but when we're not bringing in another DM as Elneny is taking up a squad place people will soon think differently. Will probably end Lokonga's time at Arsenal too, though he probably didn't have a future here anyway in fairness.

Putting it harshly (but fairly) Mo's deadweight now we have Jorginho.
