Pretty sure bids are legally binding so compared to Chelsea promising by word that they want to match it, could just lead to overpaying.
True Chelsea are such shady turds.
Anyway once they have matched our bid of 250m & 'unfortunately' we don't agree terms they are more than welcome to the player👍👍😂😉

I’d bet he’ll end up at Chelsea, simply cos Kante leaving leaves a very obvious hole for Caicedo to fill. Rice replaces Xhaka here and Caicedo replaces Kante, more likely than us buying both.
Yeah that's a fair point. Kante going leaves the gap to fill.

So many people/sports taking the Saudi Coin right now.
imho it's kinda sad.
I never had Kante as someone motivated by money but if you are offered obscene amounts spose it's hard to say no, things like democracy & human rights go out the window.

Same with Ronaldo, Benzema etc.

Right but there's levels to putting your family first. He'll be set for life whomever he signs for this season as long as he or someone in his employ has some business acumen. The difference between 50 million and 100 million is nowhere near the difference between nothing and 50 million (and there wouldn't be that big a gap between what Chelsea offer and what we do). Going to Chelsea is not a football move if a team like us or even United are in for him too. If he wants to earn another few million vs make the best footballing decision, it makes no difference to me, it's his life but I think that if you look back on a career when you're a multimillionaire, you probably would trade more success and a better experience than a few extra quid in the long run.
This is where his insta post gives me hope. He appealed to his club to release him so he could have a chance of becoming a title winner.

Hopefully he still prioritises playing in CL & playing regularly for a team fighting for honours.

The trajectory & vision at Arsenal is pretty clear. The club is stable & it's by all accounts a happy & harmonious camp.

Chelsea is a mess & last season had 3 managers. Ok, it will change, but does he really want to step into that kitchen to see how hot it really is now ????

It's all ifs, buts, & maybes. We all know nothing much makes sense these days with football transfers. It's a murky ol world with a lot of moving parts & several players (not in the literal sense) at the table. Predictable it is not !!!

No bro, you are a Chelsea fan. You can drop the act now.

Be honest and stop masquerading here, its getting tired now.

Just come clean, so that you can twerk for your team to the fullest.
You gonna look stupid if we don’t sign him. I will remind you

If we don’t sign him, it’ll be because we didn’t bid and are not interested after getting Rice, which would be a mistake imo. He needs to be at The Emirates in red and white next season

I'm just saying that can't be Chelsea's strategy if they are serious. It's the kind of strategy you employ if you don't really care what happens, you don't want to waste your time, and you don't think you should have to.

It sends a terrible signal to the player, and it presumes they are on equal footing with Arsenal RIGHT NOW. They are not. They are a mess. This season was a while coming. Footballers cannot wait and hope - their careers are too short.

If they really want Caceido, they will have to convince Brighton to deal to them. They have to know this.

Is it though? Wouldn't it be very limited on the ball?
Can you pressure either player without consequences? Neither are Partey, but they will make you pay if you over extend.

If we want to win trophies, it starts from having a great defense. Our second half of the season supports this.

He's back. At least it's clear they want to do business for the right price.

If we want him he's going to cost as much or close to what we'd have to pay for Rice. They're not going to watch us hand over £100m for him and then take £20m less for Caicedo. That's why I think there's no chance we get the pair of them. I could see the club paying £70m/£75M structured to include addons etc, but once you start getting towards £90m it makes it much less likely.

What is unclear is what agreement Brighton have with Caicedo.
What is the point signing a new deal with a view to them letting you go in the summer if they price you out of a move by demanding 100 million?

We can pay 100 million for Rice and argue Caicdedo should be 20 million cheaper simply by the HG status.

The only problem is if Chelsea bid silly money, but would Caicedo want an 9 year contract?

I doubt he had much of a concrete agreement. Some of the reports I've read suggest it was more of a verbal agreement. Probably something along the lines of "stay until the end of the season and if a good offer comes in the summer you can go". That's what it sounds like anyway. If that's the case he doesn't really have much leverage to get out of there.

The contract he signed might suggest otherwise and that there is something in writing.

Valuations don't necessarily work like that. Rice has way more commercial value than Caicedo has, meaning he's higher value player all else being equal, ie football capabilities.

Arsenal Quotes

When I first came to Arsenal, I realised the back four were all university graduates in the art of defending. As for Tony Adams, I consider him to be a doctor of defence. He is simply outstanding.
