Were you not the one who said that Kiwior hasn’t and doesn’t play left back?

Calma calma calma, relax…..

Let EdTeta do their jobs

Kiwior at LB was like playing with 10 men. He was horrible there as expected.

Don’t think we’ll see him at LB again next season once we replace Tierney.

What makes you so sure about this?

Is it because he grabbed his ankle when Brighton scored their goal?

Looking at videos like this, It seems to be to be clear that this is the profile we are looking for to replace Xhaka. Basically more of an all action game with ability to find space and confidence to take quick decision to execute the decisions. Most of AM thinks that Rice is the player to replace Xhaka though. I think Rice/Jorginho for DM and Partey/Caicedo for the other position ( Which may become inverted RB position also) is what we are looking for.
It would be very fascinating to see if we can play with a formation involving 2 inverting wingbacks effectively. We did have quite a lot of situations last season where White was attacking a lot but we mostly switched to a 3-2-5 formation while defending. If we can make a small switch and make that a 2-3-5 formation, we would open up different avenues for attack.
I think that in order to do that, we need a DM who is positionally more intelligent and smarter and has a better vision of the pitch and that`s where Rice( With Jorginho as backup) comes into the picture.
Of course these plans might change if someone world class like Gundo becomes available and we switch plans.

Interesting, I'd say the opposite; that based on this video Caicedo is a shoo-in for the 6 and the video @OnlyOne posted of Rice shows potential for Xhaka replacement

He literally offered nothing from LB, going forward or defensively . Hardly touched the ball either.

Was like playing with 10 men out there. Really poor signing so far unfortunately.

Don’t get me started on how soft he is too 🤣

I think your opinion may change on him this season. He is a good signing and has already shown his quality and versatility IMO.

We just need a RCB or RB (new player or Cancelo) and we'll have two high quality players for our backline and ready for probably a 50 game season.

Basically if this is our biggest problem right now, its a good time to be a Gooner.

I wouldn't read too much into the financially supporting siblings stuff he came out with in January.

I'm sure it's true but he was pushing hard for a move out of Brighton at the time and probably wanted to negate some of the negative press he would get for doing so.

I doubt financial stuff is the only thing he will be thinking about when deciding where to move. I think the Arsenal project will be very enticing for him and I'm sure he'd be paid enough here to help him family members out financially too.

I really hope we can get him.

What is unclear is what agreement Brighton have with Caicedo.
What is the point signing a new deal with a view to them letting you go in the summer if they price you out of a move by demanding 100 million?

We can pay 100 million for Rice and argue Caicdedo should be 20 million cheaper simply by the HG status.

The only problem is if Chelsea bid silly money, but would Caicedo want an 9 year contract?

Haven’t Fifa banned the 9 year contract thing?

Not sure Chelsea have as much room to manoeuvre financially this window as they did in the last two.

Yes one would think so by the usual positions Caicedo is occupying here. But I think that is more because of the system he has been asked to play in. When he is playing as a deepest midfielder, he is making decisions well before he gets the ball and while mostly they are correct and safe decisions, there are other passes which I feel he doesn`t necessarily see. At the same time, there is lot of evidence of dynamic movement and play. Also, there is not much evidence of defensive play in this. Statistically, he seems to be quite good defensively but there are lots of tackles and more fouls commited etc which seems to indicate lots of pressing. With Rice on the other hand, one thing that stands out for me(defensively) is number of times he is scanning and occupying good positions on the pitch. In our system, Partey`s role is similar to Rice`s role more than Caicedo`s role IMO.

Don’t question my guy again. The OG.

Looking at it now, the Caicedo tweet is interesting. Not seen him mention his name since this. Seems like one that ended in January.
