That’s assuming both Chelsea and Arsenal get bids accepted. I don’t think it will come to that. Similar to mudryk I think only one bid will be accepted and he will go from there

If we get rice I don’t think we will bid for him unless we selling Jorginho

If Xhaka goes we'll absolutely need another midfielder tho. We were already short last year.

So if you really think about, it's a very similar scenario to what happened with Caicedo in January then?

Same thing prompt us in trying to sign him, which is Elneny getting injured. Caicedo was on very low wages too and was desperate to go. We tried to capitalize. We have better alternatives now(Rice and Zubimendi) and Caicedo has renewed his contract.

Not really though, in January; El Neny's injury was a factor for sure, but we went for Caicedo hard because his agent let it be known to us that the player really wanted to come to Arsenal and that a deal could be done. He was desperate to go because his agent pushed for it. The fact that he signed a new deal is immaterial - it was purely to get his wages up to a player of his new stature in the game. The talk at the time was that Caicedo *wouldn't* preclude Arsenal signing Rice in the summer.

Did we sign Jorginho after we gave up on Caicedo in January? I can't remember.

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what happened. I wouldn't be surprised if Jorginho was low key our first target until it became known that Caicedo was a legitimate option. Remember the Caicedo links came out of nowhere.

I get the needing to financially support your family stuff.

But we're dealing with a guy who is going to be making not far off £1m a month when he leaves Brighton. He's going to be able to financially support his family and set them up for life wherever he goes.

He was trying to babyface himself when he was pushing for a move out of Brighton with all that stuff. I don't begrudge him for trying to get out and make more money but it was what it was, PR really.

Still weird that there is absolutely no move from any club for Moises

Even "leading the race Chelsea who wants Caicedo above all" doesn't move.

Very weird case.

Window doesn’t officially open until Wednesday though, does it?

It’s not a lot going on over all either, most of Europe’s top leagues probably been waiting for the CL final as well.

I also have a feeling about us getting Rice being so obvious and probably expected by the whole market other actors are waiting for that to happen first as it will be the first brick that falls so to speak (Liverpool and Mac Allister being the exception to the rule).

Market opening is just for the registration

You can negotiate and buy before that

Even rumours for him are missing, a top guy like him is not followed by other clubs ? PSG prefers Ugarte ? Barcelona prefers Neves ? Bayern ? NUFC ? MU ? Tottenham ?

It's very weird, no link at all except Chelsea and a little bit Arsenal

I think too we wanted to secure Saliba/nelson before going on big on midfielders

imagine if saliba didnt commit his future with us, you can't pay 170M on 2 midfielders then realise saliba wants to leave and have no more money to get a top class cb to replace him

Now Nelson and Saliba are going to extend, i think we will move, surely this week.

I think it speaks to the amount of work Chelsea need to do. They need multiple outgoings per singular incoming.

Almost every position on the pitch has 2-3 players they'd need to sell before they could even register a new signing.

And that's before we even start talking about FFP.

I honestly don't know why their fans think this is gonna be a good summer for them.

I'm pretty sure Poch's 1st job was to pick 20-22 of the current crop, keep those, try and sell/bin the rest and at most get 3 signings.

But the actual buying comes last. There's no way on earth they can buy before selling.

Keep seeing this thread grow with no new threadmarks.

Is this A-M trying to manifest a transfer again?

This guy is supposedly reliable but he writes for such a dead outlet, I can’t bring myself to threadmark it.

Is Caicedo also having the international useless duty? Think most play future won't be clear until they finish thier this season duty.

Are there any real links to Caiceido?

Kante is leaving Chelsea, either Rice or Caiceido will join them imo.

Any competent club wanting to buy a player from Chelsea should be leveraging their FFP issue as much as possible. If I were Man United I would bid half of what they want for Mount at most.

They struggle to sell anyone so as for today they ending up with nobody.
I don’t want Mount or Havertz here, but they’re both way too good to not be sellable.

Brighton and Caiceido are in no rush to strike a deal, so they could potentially wait for Chelsea all window if they have to as Chelsea will offer a more lucrative deal for the club and player.

Money seems to be the most important aspect of a transfer for Caiceido, based on the info we have

we'll see but the late development with Chelsea so far they can't be ruthless as last January they have to be careful and if someone bid close to 80M specially CL club brighton would inform chelsea but they won't wait for them.
