Yes, let's compare player A who's primarily played CM to player B who primarily plays LW. Let's also not adjust for the fact that when player A played LW, his attacking metrics drastically improved. Let's also ignore the fact Player A played every minute of every competition, where as Player B looks statistically much better per minute because he's subbed off when tired and has the luxury of coming on as a sub against tired legs to vastly inflate his per minute statistics.

Let's also ignore the fact that player A had 50% less shots than Tross and Martinelli combined and still scored 3 more PL goals than they did together.

This is A-M, mate. You need to put /s at the end.

Exactly and that’s why I question what is Rogers if we tell him to stop taking 5 long shots a game and attempting to carry the ball every time he gets it?

We need players whose strengths fit within the system otherwise we get nerfed versions of the players we signed like Eze. And I think Eze is a good squad player for us btw.

I’m not ignoring any of the context but to start with.

Roger’s doesn’t play CM, his role is just as attacking as Trossard’s is and for the most part they operate in the same zones.

Did his stats drastically improve at LW? Feel free to provide supplementary stats, it would actually be useful.

As for the tired legs idk what to say that, seems like a bit of a reach considering Roger’s is a full 90 player so would also get plenty of opportunities against tired legs.

As for your last point we know ‘Morgz’ is a shooter but saying he had 50% less shots than Nelli+Trossard is like saying he had the same amount of shots as one of them no?

Yea his stats were allot better on whoscored when he played LW as opposed to CM/CAM - their definition. As the new season has rolled over I can't get those stats back but it was something like 1/3 of his minutes at LW producing half of his G/A roughly speaking.

The point about 'per minute' is Trossard gets taken off when he's tired and isn't going to contribute anything else. Rogers stays on and keeps playing when tired. Rogers plays more minutes but if Trossard stayed on when tired and didn't get subbed off he'd have played more minutes and still not improved his G/A and every other stat. Because players produce less when they are tired

Rogers playing against tired legs when he has tired legs, is obviously not an advantage. Trossard coming on with fresh legs is a big advantage though because you have fresh legs and your opponent does not.

I remember I made an argument when Morata was at Real Madrid and had worldy goals per minute ratios that we should sign him because of how prolific he was per minute. It didn't bare out over regular 90 minute starts though at Chelsea for the reasons I've listed.

Sounds like it will be Morgan and Tzolis for the LW.

Arteta is going to have to do some serious coaching here.

Rogers is the top big target. We aren’t spending bigger on anyone else, opening bid will be around 90M coupled with the player asking to leave in private.

Barcola isn't elite either. If he was PSG wouldn't be spending £100m on someone else. His rep on here is ridiculous.
So by this logic Neymar wasn't elite when they signed him because they went and signed Mbappe too. Neymar and Mbappe weren't elite because they went and signed Messi. Diomande is the next big thing at winger. PSG are a hugely ambitious club. Remember when we signed Özil and Sanchez because them playing for hugely ambitious clubs made them expendable? Were they not elite players? Fabregas wasn't still elite when Barcelona sold him to Chelsea? Think before you post. There are intelligent arguments to be made against Barcola, this definitely isn't one of them.

That’s how I see it aswell. PSG would probably want roughly similar to that fee for Barcola too. Unless there’s a surprise departure or drastic change with how we operate then I can only see one massive signing and the others will be 40-60m players. Could be completely wrong though as it’s a wild guess.

That would be far too high an opening bid, I personally see it being about 70m to 75m with a view to maxing at 90m.

Villa have to sell, but unlike tonali and fernandez, rogers will hold out to join us.

I do not see anyone else bidding comparable money to us for him, and him being willing to go there over ourselves.

City have spent on Anderson, Liverpool seem keen to sign an actual left winger (i.e. not Rogers)!

Well that isn't really the same logic is it because those 3 were all signed to play together and were established world class players. Sanchez and Özil were also starters at their teams, Özil already up there as one of the best in the world in his position and Sanchez was coming here after having 30+ goal involvements for Barcelona. Both were also sold to make room for Suarez and Bale. They are prepared to let Barcola walk so they can sign a raw talent who has had one full season of top flight football.

The logic is very simple that very good players becoming available because they player for clubs that hoard talent is not an indictment of their quality. You have to work pretty hard to fail to understand that but if you're committed to doing so then that's your right.

Both can be true. Very good players become available at big clubs and so do good ones, average ones and bad ones. Barcola isn't very good, he isn't average but he is somewhere in between. He isn't elite. That is why PSG are prepared to let him leave for someone else (like Diomande). If you slowed down and engaged your brain before trying to go on some pseudo intellectual rant you might have been able to process that. Par for the course with you though, ya ****ing gobshite.

PSG don’t wanna sell him? He’s made it clear he wants to be a starter which is why they need a replacement which looks like being Diomande.

Barcola is one of the best wingers on the planet and he’s getting better year on year. He’s just what our attack needs.

Counter argument to that last bit is he doesn’t look particularly good or influential facing low blocks. He isn’t fixing that problem for us but neither is Rogers

I think as long as you’re a good 1v1 player you have the capability of being effective against low blocks. As I said he seems to be getting better and better so we’d be getting him at a good time.

I think Rogers will end up as a 10. If they had that much confidence in Rogers excelling on the wing, then why buy Tzolis? Okay, we might sell Trossard and Nelli, but Eze was earmarked for the left wing role before Trossard went crazy. The left wing has been a problem area for a while, but some of us have forgotten how much disruption we've had in the 10 role.

My own view is that i could have seen Ødegaard playing further back, and eze or Rogers playing the 10.

However these new firmer bruno rumours put paid to that.

I do not see Ødegaard leaving, so i see rogers and eze potentially battling for game time on the left this season.

We shall see.
