Barcola isn't elite either. If he was PSG wouldn't be spending £100m on someone else. His rep on here is ridiculous.
I think Barcola is borderline elite tbh. You can count on one hand the number of players in the world who have his combination of speed and technical ability. He’s a decent finisher too and plays with his head up.

PSG are spending 100M on Diomande because Barcola isnt renewing his contract and that’s only because he’s stuck behind arguably the best LW in the world and his skill set doesn’t allow him to get minutes at RW like Doue can.

Diomande will allow PSG to have a player who’s still very talented but also okay with not being a starter for the short term but they’d have happily renewed Barcola if he was willing to.

I think as long as you’re a good 1v1 player you have the capability of being effective against low blocks. As I said he seems to be getting better and better so we’d be getting him at a good time.
Only winger in the world who continuously breaks low blocks apart is some fella called Lamine who would be worth about 300M if he was available.

Barcola is elite 1v1, that + a bit of luck is how you beat low blocks. Even in the game against Paraguay where they locked down that elite front four Barcola had a moment where he blew by one defender then at full speed used his left foot to nutmeg a second then earned a corner from a cut back.

I don’t think people deep how impressive that is just because it didn’t end in an assist. If it had then suddenly he’s ’able to break down low blocks’ right? it’s a very simple way of looking at things.

Over the span of a 60 game season that ability to take two defenders out of the game in limited space and still get your head up to pick out a pass is going to be just what we need to break down low blocks.

A few years down the line - people will reminisce about how good Leo was.

How does Barcola map?
Leo was good, just a shame that his lack of physical attributes opened him up to a lack of consistency. Imo his technical level and sharpness having to be so high week in week out to mitigate the lack of athleticism is partly why he could be so inconsistent.

I actually like Roger’s, wanted him last summer but I don’t think he’s going to be much of an improvement over an on-form Trossard, if any.

Someone posts Barcola’s map a few posts after the post you quoted, spoiler: it’s better then Rogers’

According toi gunnerblog, Tzolis should be replacement for Trossard.

Personnally i think Rogers will be remain 10 (Jesus's replacement). Tzolis replaces Trossard and if Nelli leaves, Barcola will replace him
I do semi wonder about Havertz...it feels Rogers plays similar roles (I.e. I can see him doing well if played as a striker).

Could Havertz be off to Bayern as alternatives to Musiala and Kane?

To me if this is a consideration then his signing makes a lot more sense.

To borrow @OnlyOne favourite phrase, Rogers doesn’t move the needle enough for what he would cost.
for what Villa are asking of course he won't because we won't play him as LCM for 80M it worth take a gamble. we need also to wait how much PSG gonna ask for Barcola that if they open to sell him because as far what Orny is reporting is they want him to stay.

If PSG comes out and also say they want 120M at least for Barcola so we in s**ty position lol

There must be players out there at decent fees. Barcola was a known quantity at Lyon, we could’ve got him for a reasonable fee. Why are the Bournemouths and Brightons able to scout exciting attackers before they blow up but we can’t?

Yeah, I can't remember the last time we made a Doue/Barcola like signing. They are so few and far between in the premier league that I'm starting to think that these players would be bang average/dissapoint in the Prem - and thats why they don't happen. When they first moved to a top club they have the platform they need to grow i.e playing farmers week in week out. And we see so often how they can't replicate the level they produce now abroad in the Premier League.

People thought Xavi Simmons was destined for the top but he's anonymous. Havertz. Wirtz. The level always drops. Its better to just stay in the farmers league unless you're a revelation.

I know Fabio Vieira was a mistake, but which premier league club gives Vitinha another chance at his price point after not making it at Wolves. PSG have a massive competitive advantage in that they can also function like Dortmund - they can take risks when players transfer fees are low because its hard to flop in France.

There's actually a lot of clubs in the PL that make moves like this. Even Chelsea does it a lot these days, Liverpool does it under Klopp, City punted Doku, KDB, Marmoush, Dzeko, Fernandinho etc off the top of my head before they were an absolute known quantity (there's probably a lot more) with around 70% success rate relative to their fees.

Our manager prefers PL experience so we don't really prioritise talents with high ceilings abroad.

The issue with this is if these players become revelations then would the club push the boat out and do all they can to acquire them? Also do you think we’d be willing to go toe to toe with a Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern etc?

I really can’t see it.

Arsenal Quotes

It was a unique moment, a football fairytale. Was there anyone left who still believed I could give that kind of performance? Probably only Arsène Wenger.
