Who comes up with these theories ffs?

Just go check the replies, people are out there discussing handjob of Arsenal lore and how he writes differently or that he told everyone his time was coming up or whatever.

We're not far away from someone going out and doing a long form video essay about it on YouTube.

90 was probably being kind, it could well be more. I don't mind Rogers, but see him more as a false 9/SS.

I just really don't understand our recruitment. Wasted money on squad fillers, and our big money signings don't even fit the system.

It’s pretty simple. Secure the floor, have granite foundations and don’t overpay.

Its turned us from a laughing stock into a top 2 club in the country. It’s understandable why they don’t like deviating from it much.

Does that win us a CL with a less favorable draw or now that continental teams have had time to figure us out and not underestimate us?

This is literally your/their best generation? Not their fault they had yer da's manager in Southgate and Mr sex dungeon training them internationally.
Nah, this generation is no better than others of the last 40 years in comparison to their peers. We seemingly always have an abundence of certain positions and a shortage in others. But the pool in 96-2006 was far more talented if not as deep. Last good days of Gazza, Scholes, Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney, Shearer, Ferndinand, Wright, Anderton, McManaman, Sol, Ferdinand, Seaman etc etc. Of the current lot only Rice, Bellingham, Kane, Saka (when fit), Gordon (positional premium) would even make the squad.

Probably not, but they might also think there isn’t value in spending 100m plus for guys like Isak, Barcola, Elitike ect, who are obviously top player but not the absolute elite. For a club like us, if Isak or Ekitike turn out the way they have for LFC, it’s a big problem.

Have to circle back to a point many have made here, which is:

What happens if/when Rogers is eventually centrally?

Furthermore, what does it say about our recruitment (berta+Arteta as a whole) if that somehow happens before the season ends?

If he ends up playing in the middle, you have to say it’s wasted resources. Because we’d still be in need of a starting LW unless Tzolis ends up being a world beater. I haven’t seen anything from Rogers to suggest he’d be a better CAM than Eze or the best version of Ødegaard.

Tbh, if we part with £100+M for Rogers, I’ll seriously wonder about our recruitment department. This guy was a championship footballer as recently as 2 years ago. We need to be aiming for better targets.

Villa should really be going for Ezzalzouli who I think is very useful if they’re selling Rogers, Manzambi + Ezzalzouli would be solid business and imo would make them even stronger.

Good opportunity as he has a €60m clause, so they wouldn’t be using all the Rogers and Konsa funds.

Its been another England generation of losing to the clearly better team, or limping out with a whimper.

It's overrated. We got players like Konsa, Gordon, Anderson and Madueke as key players in a World Cup.

Both hugely improve our attack. And i mean massively. MR is getting very underrated on here because he's not the name people want but he is a very good player. He has consistently put up good numbers for a while now, and he is technically very astute.

He is one of the very few players available in the market who can create chances from "nothing" moments. We need more of that. You cannot rely on Eze he has shown he cannot consistently produce that and Ødegaard is not that kind of player. Trossard, who was also that kind of player has left.

The more you think about this signing, it makes a lot of sense. A signing like MR helps a lot of those nervy 1-0s turn to 2-0s, 3-0s and actually not give every Arsenal fan a traumatic experience every single game.
I agree - and I wouldn't go for Barcola considering Pepe was supposedly good in that league, so don't think Barcola would translate that against low blocks and lack of good counter attacking play we have.

I think it's a good transfer for us, so hope it happens, he will probably be our best winger right away.

Not just the CL. Does it win us one off cup games vs City, Liverpool etc...

People here are talking about the CL final and matches against top teams. But putting aside the jubilation of finally winning the league which has blinded some of us into thinking everything is fine, my really worry is how close our games were against teams we should be easily brushing aside. Struggling to score against Forest, Wolves, West Ham etc. Even after that City loss away in the league and even after City dropped points to Everton, I didn’t have confidence that this team could win all their remaining games. We are huffin and puffing against Burnely and West Ham when we should be as league winners easily putting them to the sword by 3/4 goals.

That Feb to April period really opened my eyes and a league title win shouldn’t make Arteta and Berta forget that our whole attack needs to be gutted and get heavy investment. Martinelli, Madueke, Gyok, even Trossard none of them are or were at the required level to make us a side to be feared on the counter or against low blocks. Havertz is the only one I would keep as a plan B rotation but even then his wages would be a waste of resources for a flawed squad player.

Man City made a joke of us in the Cup final because they realised Zubi and Rice can’t receive the ball deep under pressure. We had no way to build up from the back and bypass their high press. It’s clear we need a Vitinha/Jorginho type who can help us in the build up because Rice and Zubi ain’t it.

I accepted Tzolis as a cheap punt as backup and was thinking people are tripping asking for Rogers+Barcola. But I’m no longer in the honeymoon phase and now agree with their line of thinking. We need to be serious about our neglected attack, Rogers+ a 1v1 monster LW+Kroupi+a ball paying DM. Next Summer a RW if Saka doesn’t heal and flog of Madueke if he still has no end product.

I know stylistically he's different than Eze, but in profile to me he's very similar: a LW/AM hybrid. Makes zero sense to me because of that. Werent we linked with him last year too? We made our bed with the Eze signing imo.

Similarly, Madueke is preventing us from signing a good Saka back up, although in my mind that should just have been Nwaneri.

To me, the plan of Rogers and Alvarez who are clearly are two top targets makes sense purely on a technical level. We needed someone on the left who can contribute more in G/A and actually is a threat.

Trossard whilst great blew hot and cold. Martinelli is a speed demon but a headless chicken. That only matters in the PL against tired legs and I think Tzolis can easily fill that role.

Rogers fixes both of those issues out on the left, whilst still being young so there is huge upside. He is already hugely impactful in the final phases, whilst also being very technically sound and a physically strong dribbler we lack all of that. You'd expect a young PL talent already proven in the league to excel further at a bigger club in a much better attack.

Alvarez fixes a huge amount of our issues in attack and general possession play. Gyokeres is already a fantastic final moment player but the way he plays contributes massively to our possession once we go against the best teams in the world and unfortunately it's just not enough. We hugely miss a technical player up front who can actually get involved in play, bring players like Saka Rogers and Eze into the final actions more and of course he himself be a threat.

The squad building makes sense the only issue I see is a lack of pace. But pace is extremely overrated in football especially at the top clubs, you don't get as much space and time and of course whilst still important, technical players and players who can dribble and keep the ball under pressure and deliver in the final moments are always the more impactful players at the top clubs. Tzolis seems quick but not that quick although I heard his top speed is not far off Martinelli?
