2019 to now, we have the second biggest investment in player transfers of all teams in the top 5 major European leagues from club funds. It’s a fact. And it’s the reason this club is on the move again. We shouldn’t be knocking it.

So liberating to be unburdened of the Sanogos & Squillaci's of the world.

Now, we can shop in the venue where dumpsters are hidden in plain view instead of serving as buffet style serving plates for the dross of the world

When we buy anyone for a overpaid record fee there will be tremendous pressure. All the stats will be used by rivals to undermine our decision, eye tests and impact of signing will be used by AM to defend.

In the end over paying won't matter if all things pan out good in short or long term.

I cannot say about Mudryk but for potentially unique players you just buy them for whatever.

We cannot fill all holes in the squad in this window.
What we need is a multi position attacker and a Partey alternative.

We need to splash cash ,
To be Frank we need a good attacker with potential but a very good midfielder, and then think of anything else.

Also need Saka, Martenelli and Saliba new contracts as a TOP priority.

You mustn't have seen ESR in 1 on 1 situations out wide.
He might be the best in the squad at that.

I would argue that what you are wanting in Mudryk is more akin to the past where we were completely without direction, splashing cash on big name signings that never delivered top 4 or any real success. Remember Pepe?

I am more interested in the approach we have taken on transfers and young player development since summer 21 - ironically a window so many said was rubbish actually transformed the club.

Experts at reading into the future to know what will and not work. If you like the decision of those who have taken the young player development approach, it is only fair to give them the benefit of doubt on their decision to engage Mudryk. Simple. Maybe it would be great to support them and only make these judgements once they have brought in the players and integrated them into the fold.

So we are top of the league, playing football that would get an impotent man erect, watching Sp**s fail miserably and we have one of the hottest prospects in Europe literally begging us to sign him.

I must have died and went to heaven.
No you know you’re still alive cos AM is still moaning and begging for a Partey backup stating this guy is “unnecessary”

Exactly it’s like people don’t pay attention to this league. Yesterday one ball to Martinelli and boom no one is catching him. Look at sancho or Anthony. If you can’t run past a defender as wide man in this league you will struggle. Watching Sp**s and Chelsea today none of their wide men could run past a full back and both struggled. Stylistically this guy is made for a the PL and he doesn’t look shy. He will relish this
Eh, if we play against a team that plays on the counter, mydruk can't do ****. As far as we know he's a walcott. He haven't even really played in a real football league. Wouldnt hype him this much. He certainly aint close to martinelli as of yet.

New year must be the AM equivalent of a full moon…

Except in this case, it's not fearsome werewolves pouring out of the woods you have to contend with.

It's rabid keyboard warriors rushing out of basements wearing only boxers that have long since fused to their bodies

He has played in the CL and has 3 goals and 2 assists. And if you think the club is gonna spend 70 million on a player they think is not close to Martinelli then you live in cucko land

One thing that is overlooked in this thread is team chemistry. Everybody who were a part of a successful team (doesn't matter if it's a top tier, lower league level, junior football or Sunday league) knows how important the atmosphere is. It's impossible to succeed when the environment is hostile and everybody is constantly pumped by negative feedback.

That's why the most important manager quality is to create good vibe around the team. If the atmosphere is great everybody is happy and much more willing to sacrifice their own comfort zone for the better good (i.e. team).

I think there's a good camaraderie in our squad right now, we're winning which always helps and if Mudryk (or any other player) will come with right attitude, shows that he can ball and will psychologically fit in I can see no problem with increased competition and losing some minutes by our current regulars. Players know quality when they see it and you're ALWAYS happy when your team strengthens. It's up to manager and scouting team to think long-term and select proper players that won't destroy the dressing room. We did it right with Jesus and Zinchenko (serial winners, true competitors but generally nice guys) and from the look of things I guess Mudryk won't have a problem settling in quickly.

If we were going to sign some primadonna type I'd be worried but looks like Arteta learned his lessons.

Think he’s wumming tbh. Anyone who knows anything can see Mudryk is more than “a pace merchant”.

We already did spend £72m on a player not close to Martinelli... Pepe.

Mudryk's 3 goals in the CL - 2 against Celtic and 1 against Leipzig.
2 assists against Leipzig
This is in 12 matches.

In 6 matches of those 12, against good opposition ( Madrid and Inter) , he has 0 goals and 0 assists.

Don't know why people are saying he 'lit up' the CL. He didn't and hasn't.

I don’t think he is tbh. Even on Twitter we have some strange fans who sees these guys as family and want to protect them from any competition.
