Love the tenacity and aggression. The post-match interview with Wrighty where he said he couldn't look soft in front if his grandma brought a tear to my eye.

Wow. What can you say really, for him to make that performance with that level of confidence in a derby this early in his career? Unbelievable.

Nothing makes me feel more joy as an Arsenal fan then seeing these academy players break out the way Saka has whilst clearly showing how much they love the club. To have Nwaneri and MLS following his footsteps (fingers crossed) soon after is so great to see.

When it comes to youth players stepping up, it's as much about your mental state as your technical abilities.

We saw it with Saka, came in to the side and took to first team football like a duck to water. We're seeing it with Lewis-Skelly now too.

Compare it to someone like Reiss, great talent but you never felt that he really felt like he belonged at this level. He just didn't really have the self belief. Myles certainly does.

IF both continue to develop at this rate, it makes the damaged season worth it in the long run. Wonder how long it will be before we see Dowman, because he is special. Ironically, given our injuries, if Chido hadn't (quite understandably) chased the riches of Manchester, he'd be on the bench for us, and likely be getting minutes....

I wonder if Arteta will give Dowman the Nwaneri at 15 treatment before the season is out?
I can't stress enough how important it is to bring through academy talent with the quality to not just fill a squad place but become a viable regular starter.

It shows other young players a pathway to the first team is possible and for fans certainly despite the excitment of say a shiny new 50m plus signing nothing better than seeing your own young talent develop.

A young Topside remembers the likes of Rocky Rocastle RIP coming through, Thomas, Merson, Adams all around the same time to now have MLS, Nwaneri and hopefully Dowman it's great to see.

Would let Saka date his daughter

I was comparing him to today's Saka tbf, not a perfect comparison but a lot closer than Dembélé.

Yaya comparison is a big stretch, his style is unique and basically unduplicable for a mobile running type as he was one of the strongest players to ever play the game.
I believe Skelly can be just as dynamic as Toure was. For his frame, Skelly is as powerful as any teenager in football. I don't think it was strength that made Toure dangerous, it was his agility for his size, technique and running power when he got into his stride.

Only thing I wish he had done differently after being subbed off was as soon as a Tottenham player touched him he should have gone down like a tonne of bricks. Would have been peak 11/10 ****housery.

Nah his grandma was there watching and he said after the match there was no way he could have his grandma thinking he played soft. That's a top class family. His mom is a really impressive person as well.

Great display and a promising breakthrough season but I wouldn’t start hyping him up just yet. Same for Nwaneri. They have a long road ahead.

Mikel Merino, may I present to you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take up a vocational course - perhaps plumbing or welding. I would say go join the Saudi league, but the Saudis don't take too kindly to pork chops. God bless you in your future endeavours, and I know you have a big fan in @BigPoppaPump who will support you.
Imagine claiming to be a fan of the club but sh*tting on the players for no reason even after a win.

:applause:

There's a video of it and it warms your heart to have players coming up from the Hale End.

@MutableEarth check this out 🤩

Ridiculously good player. This is where advantages can be attained. Should be promoted ahead of Calafiori, Zinchenko at left back. And ahead of Jorginho in midfield.

Much better than Rico Lewis at Man City

I usually roll my eyes at the hype Hale End players get but this guy is seriously a quality player with world class potential. Reminds me of when Saka first burst onto the scene.

Rico Lewis is a good example of how young players fluctuate in performance. So is Kobbie Mainoo and Wharton.

People talking about letting go of senior players after 6 senior career performances is hella premature.

No need to start rolling out the red carpet, let the kid continue grow and fight for his seat at the table.

Arsenal Quotes

Arsène Wenger's idea is not only to play good football. It's to play good football to win. In my day, we knew that with our style we could hurt teams and win trophies too. But we did it our way, with the positional game, passing, movement.
