Wait what?

How are you comparing him to Gibbs?

What?
That compilation was Gibbs-esque. When Gibbs broke through in pre-season in the summer of 2007 (?) he was similarly very secure on the ball. The fact that he didn't really push on after breaking through doesn't take away from the fact that he successfully came through the academy and showed promising signs as a youngster.

Gibbs did not know how to receive the ball on the half turn and use his body to shield it from opposition.

Gibbs was an old school winger turned fullback. Great on the ball but it’s a different game on the wing vs the middle of the pitch.

I should have caveated, I've not seen any first team footage of MLS aside from that compilation.

It looked like MLS was playing as a leftback, possibly inverting?

I've only really seen him play this preseason but this kid interests me.

First thing I noticed even before he touched the ball was he carries himself like a player who believes the Arsenal starting 11 is his level. That was good to see.

In terms of his game, there is obviously huge scope for improvement in every facet given his age but I didn't notice any major flaw in his game either. So there's a lot to work with.

He had a few lapses of concentration etc but that's just age / experience related.

I'd keep him here this summer, bed him in as first team player. A few PL minutes here and there plus the League Cup then evaluate again in January to see how he's getting on and if a loan would help him. Play it by ear.

He is a midfielder arteta choose to play inverted left back and has a go at him after the game because the goal came from his side. Play him in midfield or don’t play him. Asking a kid to play that nonsense role is stupid

Assuming Calafiore starts at LB, there will be Tomiyasu, Zinchenko, Timber and Kiwior who will come on ahead of him, and rightly so. So there's no justification to give those minutes to MLS instead.

Similarly, assuming we sign Merino and Rice goes back to 6. Partey and Jorginho will be ahead of him to play as a 6, so again no justification to give him minutes there, either.

His best chance, as is often the case for academy players, is if there is an injury crisis and all those ahead are injured.

So it will be very difficult for him to get any minutes. He should go on loan where he can pick up valuable game time and experience.

First he complained that Arteta didn't play them, now he complains that Arteta plays them in the wrong position.

No wonder why you're such a bore. Man doesn't even understand our tactics, nor the fact that young players need to seize whatever opportunities come their way in whatever form they, and it's not on the manager to mollycoddle perfect conditions for them to succeed. Go back to watching paint dry.

He's absolutely legit. Needs to get minutes this season.
I really hope he can get done first team minutes this season. As someone said in another thread, we only have Nartinellibsbd Rice as ball carriers. MLS would be good especially later in a match.

I hope we get a better draw in league Cup and FA Cup this season. Last season we got pool and city too soon and couldn't give reserve team few matches. Skelly and Nwaneri should get 5-6 games in cups this year.

Seconded. We've been unlucky in the FA Cup over the last two seasons getting City and Liverpool in the fourth and third rounds respectively.

Arsenal Quotes

There is no chance of Sol ever leaving for Arsenal. He is a Spurs fan and there is not a hope in hell of him playing in an Arsenal shirt.
