A lot better against Inter. Looks like he is a player who heavily relies on confidence. Hopefully this game kick starts his return to good form

He is kinda slow though 😭

Luckily the standard of wingers, especially right ones, is at an all time low so he’ll probably be fine for the short term.

Might be selection bias because maybe he never played there against fast wingers but the few times Xhaka played left back I don't remember him being done for pace. There's a way to play the position to protect yourself

Inverting in to CM and joining the front 5 probably isn't it though 😂

With the injury of Merino now its the time to play him in midfield. he has all the qualities to be a succes there.

We have some manageable games coming up, Wigan could see him starting if the manager wanted to give this a try and he can always be brought in as a sub.

Depending on the gamestate, it's a win-win, since it might just give us enough of a sample size to make a decision on him going forward. His stock is still high as far as prospects go and we can't risk another AMN, i.e., him staying here too long and losing said stock.

Want him to succeed here, but if we can get some Willock money for him, it's still a very good return for an academy player.

With Merino out, I'd love to see him have a couple of appearances in midfield.
This is a perfect chance for him to grab his place in midifield. He really is not a LB, it's time for him to shine in his natural position.

He hasn't seen much game time he's out of the Mansfield tie.

Suspended after picking up bookings in the 3rd and 4th rounds of the FA Cup.

He is a very gifted player and should be trusted more. think we can use him in midfield very well.
Especially when you see us going through periods of games like Wolves, Brentford and Brighton where it seems like nobody can protect the ball and hold of their opponent.

No one is a bigger loser from yesterday than MLS. Completely frozen out by your manager, left out of the England squad, and the guy who has replaced you scored two and won City the game. It's been a rough week for MLS; a rougher season if we’re being honest. Hopefully, he gets his chance in midfield against Southampton. That's all I'm asking for this season - one game in midfield against a Championship side.

Yeah, it's time to move on. Stock still high, but it's clear there's no path for him here.

Love him, wish he got his chance in midfield for us to see what it's like even with a s small sample size, but we can't keep hoarding players and an academy over at that.

Pure profit time.

If he moves I hope it's to a club that will play him as an 8, I'm a fan as you all know of his.

He's sat on the bench and watching the same guys get game after game starts, he's getting no mins. I read and see the cm pair look tired Nørgaard/ MLS should of been used more.

Hope he at least starts at Southampton in the FA Cup, whatever he does won't matter in the big picture MA doesn't trust him.

It's funny - IIRC AMN's first major start for Arsenal in midfield was against Southampton when they were in the Championship too and would have been MOTM if not for Welbeck's hattrick that day.

I'm seeing too many parallels I don't like tbh, and this is worse for me because Lewis-Skelly is a significantly bigger talent than AMN and I was a huge fan of the latter. It'd be the biggest fumble IMO.

Its funny how people in the game thread keep going on and on about "why didn't Zubimendi just roll his off marker if he was being pressed? He should just take him out the game!" as if that so easy for any midfielder to do. Meanwhile, there's a player on the bench whose superpower IS that and he wasn't used. Of course, playing him at this stage while being so cold would come with its own set of issues. But he's very clearly got something that differentiates him. Something that makes him special. Something that even one of the most acclaimed midfielders in the world in Zubi can't really do and probably can't learn at this stage in his career. The ability to sense the press and beat it consistently IS a superpower. You either decide to harness this game breaking ability, or you don't.

I can't find the post, but someone said Teta has a habit of freezing out Hale End players who have served him well in favour of his summer signings. Remember how ESR got 10 league goals and saved us from Willian, only to lose his spot to Havertz and Vieira the following season? I'm aware that ESR wasn't the fittest, but he had more credit in the bank than most.

Arteta takes home-grown players for granted and craters their value. And I'm not even being a Hale End shill. MLS has unique qualities compared to the other midfielders we have. What he lacks in height, he makes up for in several different aspects. As happy as I am for Dowman to change the game against Everton, it never sat well with me that Teta never considered MLS. In fact, I'm certain Dowman has had more minutes in midfield than MLS. What must he be thinking?
