League is very weak
20 or 30 years ago the Skelly celebration wouldn’t have even been talked about.

Just feels like we have so many platforms to discuss football and all looking for their headline etc, everybody centres on BS like this. You feed into this this and feed off it.

Carragher says something, then the FA are planning something, then Smith says something, then Souness has to do a piece. Then race is coming into it.

I’m guessing the footballs itself is so dead you speak about the side shenanigans. The league is dead so let’s speak about the side drama.

I love his mother! What a beautiful woman she is. Such a sweet character who surely loves her son.
The fact that she's not only done the work to be in the best possible position to help him navigate his career but is also using that acumen to help other parents to advocate for their kids on their own journeys in football is so impressive to me. It takes real character to not be content with succeeding yourself but to also make sure you help others to succeed along the way as well.

English football has always been like that though. It leans into building narratives, transfer news, soft factors analysis and sensationalism to drive views. Rarely do you see English journalists give a tactical breakdown of what happened in a game. Instead, the analysis scraps at the bottom of the barrel content. Arsenal can't defend because “they have no leaders”. Of course, there was no mention of our fullbacks playing on the halfway line giving the opposition attackers space to attack.

In the 90s/00s, celebrity worship was rife in the country, so WAGs became a hot topic - especially in the lead up to international tournaments. Nowadays, the “culture war” is at the forefront of the public. MLS celebration at Halaand's expense conflicts with the English attitude that I'm not going to rewrite, but most of us know what it is.

I don’t think it’s racism or even directly aimed at MLS.

It’s because it’s us, the media in this country hates Arsenal. Any opportunity for Sky, Talksport, Neville and co to have a go at us, even when it defies any logic, they pounce on it.

I don’t even know where the hate stems from. We’re not financial doping or a classless club, in fact we’re the complete opposite. Think a lot stems from Wenger xenophobic hate and has carried on from then.
Wenger was anthitasis of a working class Brits philosophy of football. That's why they hate him.

He showed English football and the media that you don't need to be a brute to succeed in the league. Also that they knew he was smarter and more sophisticated then them all.

Uncle @Macho is basically saying that black players have been targeted like this in the media for years now and it’s kind of sad that people are only noticing it when it happens to a Hale End kid.

It shouldn’t require it happening close to home to realise it’s wrong and it’s a bit cheeky to make it into an anti-arsenal thing because that’s not what it is in this case.

It’s further amplified by the fact that Arsenal fans themselves have engaged in such behaviour when the team was underperforming or the player in question wasn’t an academy graduate.

Footballs always been a working man’s game in this country. The posh sports (thinking cricket here, I don’t know much about rugby) the commentary and analysis is much more nuanced and technical.

Ofc there’s still racism in cricket that’s a separate point but the level of analysis is night and day different.

With the lack of presence up top now I hope Mikel moves him into midfield. We have a lot of great options at left back but very few with Myles’ ability to break lines and carry the ball in the middle.

I really think he could play the 6 to be honest. He has the technical ability, work rate and above all, the intelligence required from a 6.

He’d give us more penetration there which would free up Ødegaard to play closer to goal… something we desperately need.

Kinda meh today but given he's 18 its to be expected, I'm sure he'll be back to a high level next game.

Arsenal Quotes

My first ever football memory was Charlie George's double winning goal in 71. After that game; I just became an Arsenal fan.
