Agree with what he’s saying here about MLS’ strengths.

Position wise, I still see him as being an LCM deep down, but that modern inverted LB position is a dream for his kind of profile as well.
Dont think he has any chance in midfield now. He's taken the LB spot for club and country. For better or worse, LB is now where he'll play for the rest of his career.

I agree with you that he can offer all of his strengths by inverting.

Saka started as a LB and moved to RWF later on, not sure why MLS can't learn his trade at this level at LB and then move into midfield?

The skillsets are similar enough that its not unthinkable.

Positional changes for a player can be many reasons beyond what a coach wants.

Availability of other players through injury often. The player matures into other roles and also what a player wants. MLS looks to have a very adept skillset already LB or moving later to LCM.

In our squad Saka named already above, White a CB by trade now RB.

Saka broke through as a LW. Maybe Skelly can become the new Philip Lahm

Being versatile is a great thing. We shouldn't be in any rush to nail him down in a long term position.

For now I think LB is good for his development, you can get away with a little more there and he still gets those moments in midfield when he inverts.

Down the line he can be a CM for sure though.

MLS is the new Kimmich. He’ll have games in midfield and left-back.

MLS 18, with the body strength of a mature 21 year old, knows how to position himself to protect the ball on the half turn in tight spaces and drive forward.

It's a skill that really would help us if he was moved into a left 8 position.

If Calafiori could keep fit and play more regularly the pair could dovetail between the two roles. The fact both are calm in forward positions either crosssing or shooting I really hope we get to see it this season. Calafiori should be back in a couple of weeks time its worth looking at.

I take the point.

With Saka, it helped that there were managerial changes and the new gaffer didn't like Pepe.

With MLS, it would mean the manager preferring him over Rice and Zubimendi which I can't see. If the Spaniard doesn't arrive, it could create an opening for him.

I think Lewis-Skelly will primarily feature as our starting LB this season, but if both Partey and Jorginho is leaving with only Zubimendi coming in we will see him deputize in midfield a lot more often.

His future is in midfield. He's just too good to be playing as a LB for the rest of his career, but at the moment playing as a LB for Arsenal he gets plenty of opportunities to step into midfield. The most important thing at the moment is that he keeps getting minutes.

Getting worried that arteta never gone move home back into midfield.....maybe these too frequent errors will persuade him mls not a defender...exactly what we need midfield though driving forward committing defenders , yes please

I fear MLS has built an Xhaka-like reputation with the media and refs. How many times this season has he been unfairly punished for incidents that you will likely never see again? Worst of all, the refs choose to double down on their punitive measures rather than review their conduct. He'll be caught in the media crossfire, subjecting him to more criticism and misplaced assumptions about his attitude - no doubt driven by the gammons at Talkshite.

On the plus side, we are a step closer to MLS in midfield. Arteta can't run from it anymore. He's tried and failed multiple times to make the inverted fullback thing work, and the inclusion of Berta should help steer him to a more traditional profile.

Also refs shouldn't have something against footballers. It's ridiculous thing to say.

Refs in this league are bad they don't know how to make clear decision or go s game without f**k things up

Must be a horrible feeling to get scammed so often by ref decisions already at this young age. He was clever enough to stop holding in the pen box, but somehow the ref still awarded the player..
He just finding himself in unfortunate situation but likely because he new in this system

It is well known the referees are protected very well like the lions in the zoo so we have to live with their decisions
