How is our best player always a kid playing out of position in his first season ffs.

I hope he bodies Ødegaard in training tomorrow and takes the captaincy off him, he deserves it... what's Martin gonna do anyway, start waving his arms in the air and give the ball away in a needless turnover!

Wants you to learn about football
with the hopes he can be developed as a DLP in the future.

he is the real deal, still a kid, but you can tell, he is the real deal, I just don't like him wide, he should be played centrally, I don't want another Zinchenko, I want a new Partey.

Flawless performance
  • Didn't struggle vs Doue while Timber was getting cooked by Kvaradona.
  • Single-handedly created the best chance of the game for us.
  • When we were getting pressed to death at the start, our only outlet to relieve pressure were the fouls he won off of his dribbling.
MVP for me, shame such an outstanding performance will get eclipsed by the result

Sample size is too small to call someone WC, but it's undeniable he's playing at a WC level at least. At 18. On his first professional season. In a new position. Insane.

Shut down that left flank with ease.

He's not a very good young player, he's putting in WC performances weekly now. The only reason I don't put the WC tag on him is because of how few games he's played and his age, which probably is being unfair to him tbh.

This guy is like Kobe of football. Loves these one on one battles and at 18 I still yet to see someone get ahead of him. Its propably one of many reasons why he could become a GOAT fullback if that is his direction.

I still rather see him in the midfield tonight. He is our best performer. I think we would have suffer less tactically with him in midfield and Tierney out wide instead of what happened with Merino and Rice out of their best current positions.

He has never even started a game in senior football in midfield, has he?

I can understand Arteta's hesitation to start him there in a CL semi of all games, but leading up to this game he should have at least tested it seriously.

Now he sabotaged the midfield and striker position both.

Play 👏 him 👏 in 👏 midfield 👏
He already plays in midfield when in possession. No need to move him there. He is so good at LB in the Arteta's system. I get baffled every time I see this boy play. Today in the first 25 minutes , when we were abysmal , he was one of the few who stood their ground. He gave the outstanding pass to Martinelli for the 1v1 against the keeper. He never lost a duel. Its so strange the youngest in the team is the calmest and most composed. He is a gem.

He’s good at LB out of possession.

He would be even better in midfield. His anthleticism and defensive ability alongside Declan Rice would just mean we’d have the midfield on 🔒 every game man. Teams would have to resort to going long or funnelling down the touchline which are much much easier to manage than conceding the midfield like we did yesterday. In possession as you say he’s already showing his class in inverted LB - I’d argue we’d see even more from him if he wasn’t conscious of leaving space behind him and playing it safe as a result.

We should absolutely move him.

We usually have similar opinions but on this one I don't agree with you. Just think about it for a sec. I don't deny he will be a good midfielder, but for this system he is excellent and if he continues like this he will be the best left back in the world in probably 2 years time. Couple of points.
1. Its evident from the PSG game that Rice's future will be a box to box left 8.
2. We haven't seen Myles be the sole 6 so far. We don't know how he can dictate the game like Partey does ( maybe Arteta's seen something in training which he does not like )
3. He is yet to be dribbled past in the league and the best wingers in the world struggled to get a sniff in the CL.
4. The support role coming inside to help Partey ( in the future Zubimendi probably ) suits him so much. He drives with the ball forward from the support position. A lot less dangerous than to do it if he was in Parteys role.
5. I am not sure how he will handle teams who love to kick it long to some midfielder /striker who is two heads above him.
6. If we move him, we are left with Calafiori who is injury prone and the rest of the left backs will be sold this summer.

I think he’d be world class at 6 as well as LB that’s where we differ I guess.

I’ll put it this way - if you could pick either Vieira or Ashley Cole for a dream team who you picking? Because that’s honestly where I think his ceiling is. In both positions.

He’s a special special player. Please God let him be free from injuries and reach his potential 🙏

Maybe you are right about the potential in both positions. Time will tell. Me personally, I will pick him at LB just because the market offers more in the middle. LB market is dead. Also he is so perfect for Arteta's system its unreal. Zinchenko is good in the build up , but is so **** at defending. Calafiori cannot offer the same in the build up and has also defensive frailties. Tierney is gone, Tavares is gone. Tommy is always injured. We have to buy another left back this summer if we move MLS.

It’s not impossible to go through a season unbeaten and I can’t see why it’s shocking to say that.
