My only concern with the last bit is that I can’t see what other aspects of his game he’ll develop to get there. We know he’s going to have those driving runs from deep but you probably need a bit more to add to that base if you want to be a WC midfielder.

The good thing is he has a lot of time to work on that.

His passing can still improve a bit. I believe he has the guile to keep improving like Saka did.

He is not a natural fullback, but his defensive contributions last season were stellar. Some rash plays here and there and people tried to paint a narrative of him. He is a better one v one defender than Calafiori and also very good at winning duels. At the end of the day he is still a teenager and not the finished article, but his play is already very impactful and he has potential to develop into a world class midfielder if he is managed properly.

He was playing like was close to prime A. Cole in defense last season. Obviously a bit rusty now but he will easily build his stocks again with more game time.

His intelligence shone through when he gave away that foul when their player was through. I know that sounds weird, but it’s a professional foul (taking one for the team) you expect a far more senior player to make when sensing the danger.

i think that tweet make great point, so we will have 2 different combination double pivot that is rice x zubi or rice x skelly

- zubi at midfield has ability with his passing (line breaking pass) which will help us build up & can give through ball or long ball into final third straight away (like he did 2x against west ham and 1x against atletico). but with zubimendi sometimes we need eze/Ødegaard drop deeper to pick ball to help build up

- while skelly at midfield has ability with carry ball which will help us build up & also that carry ball can make us more direct straight away into final third (mls did that against atletico) which mean based on skelly ability when he play at midfield then we dont need Ødegaard/eze drop deeper to pick ball to help build up because what we only need is just give ball to skelly then he will carry ball to dribble past player in front of him from midfield into final third, look what skelly did from this 2 video below if he play at midfield (ignore caption from that tweet below, just watch video)

Agree and I'd like to see more of that. MLS is a bit more decisive than Rice with his final ball and that attacking instinct is crucial.
