Nicolas Pepe: Saint Nic Is Back

I am fairly surprised that he is not forcing for a move yet. The guy is 26. He does have the skills to shine in another league or a team that could use his skills. He should be striving to get as many minutes as possible. He is nowhere close to first team here and is still not pushing for a move. Should have an AMN here.

Doesn't that tell you a lot about his mentality and why Emery and Arteta don't like him at all?

It’s quite simplistic to arrive at any conclusion about his mentality. Do you know the contents of his discussion with the manager or the club or frequency to which he speaks with the manager?

Funny thing is if he acts like you’re suggesting they will call him a problem and say bad things about his character. If he behaves respectable plebs start questioning his ambitions. If he speaks out the club will most likely fine him.

The truth is that most of us don’t have a clue about what goes on behind the scenes. Yet armchair pundits and fans behave like they know what is going on. 😕

Got MOTM also. They were unlucky to draw that game. Hope their goalkeeper is okay. Didn't look good with his knee...
Watched the game. Absolutely Phenomenal goal but standard Arsenal Pepe performance, some bad touches, miscontrol of the ball and some poor choices in first half. He was much better in second tbf.

Sorry.

Of course, it's because Arteta hates him and Arteta is doing everything to hold him back!

Bro at one point they had counter where Zaha was clear through on goal, Pepe just had to play him in but he screwed up the most simplest of passes and killed the whole move.

With Pepe you never know what you're going to get.

Think this inconsistency is what kills him with Arteta. Pepe around the box can be absolutely brilliant and he has goals in him, but his overall play and decision making just is very inconsistent. Somehow you hope he could iron some of that out, but seems to be part of him.

I don’t subscribe to that view either. I think Arteta likes having Pepe but insists on playing a certain way and realizes that Pepe doesn’t fit into the system. Arteta isn’t a stupid guy. He knows Nico has talent and is a goal threat but he wants to play a certain way and Nico hinders that.

Sometimes a player and a team just doesn’t fit. That’s all it is in the circumstances.

A goal and an assist against Algeria. Nothing we didn't know before. Play Pepe to his strengths and he is a productivity machine.

Next stop Egypt. Time for Pepe to slap Salah around and knock them out.

I hope he can get back some confidence from this run. This should be easy for him, and he is playing well if over playing at time (which players will when it’s this easy).

Maybe then he can come back and do something for us at the end of the season. No reason he shouldn’t be used as little as he is.
