Alexis is going to retire a rich man with many achievements however he should have got a lot more out of his career.

Apart from his time at Udinese and Arsenal he has been a bit part player, he could have been Chile's best ever player.

Zubizarretta was the DoF then, if I'm not mistaken he targeted the players and Raul was responsible for negotiations/closing the deal.

I agree in general, but some of the names on your list don't fit imo.

Semedo is class, they don't even agree on selling him to PSG for that matter to get Neymar.
Song and Hleb could've been great as they were pretty good here, but the quality of their side was just too much. Alcacer had the problem of Suarez, probably no one would've pushed him out..

Vidal was a good buy and might/should've helped getting a CL title, Malcom is probably still a profit and so was Paulinho who even played good for them even though I was shocked initally as well.

Boateng, Arda, Digne, Vermaelen were just weird. Coutinho didn't fit, so a bad choice too.

I would not say they only make bad deals, it's more that they could do so much better. They basically can get whoever they want and they aren't taking full advantage of that.

Their main problem though just the academy run dry. Guess they only keep signing other peoples super expensive attackers as scared what happens when Messis legs go. Madrid are pretty stacked with u23s.
