Wolves are bracing themselves for record-breaking bids to land Adama Traoré during a summer window where Europe’s most exciting forwards are expected to move clubs.

While January was a month of caution in the transfer market - clubs wanted loans and only Manchester United spent big - it will be the calm before the storm and should see a summer of spending.

Wide-forwards are on the shopping list of top clubs, with Traoré the latest to catch the eye of the top clubs with his performances at Molineux. Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman and Hwang Hee-chan have also put themselves in positions for high-profile moves .

Wilfried Zaha’s future will be under scrutiny while in the Championship clubs from the top-flight are looking at Brentford forward Saïd Benrahma.

Traore, 24, has made his breakthrough this season after five seasons in England where he only showed glimpses of his potential at Aston Villa and Middlesbrough.

The Spaniard’s principle asset has always been pace but under Nuno Espírito Santo he has developed into a potential match-winner. He started his career at Barcelona and the top clubs in Spain are monitoring his situation in the Midlands.

Traore also had admirers in England and, given the asking price of other players in his position, could break the record for a fee paid by a Premier League club for him to line up against Wolves next season. Paul Pogba’s £89.3million paid by Manchester United four years ago is the current record.

Sane, 24, has just one full season on his contract at Manchester City and while fresh terms are not agreed, he looks increasingly likely to leave. City were competing with Manchester United for Alexis Sanchez and have seen the problems that arise with players in the final six months of their contracts.

Sane has returned to training following his serious knee injury suffered at the start of the campaign but City are still waiting on an answer from him over a new contract.

Bayern Munich are waiting in the wings for the Germany international, who will assess his options and decide whether a return to Bundesliga is the right step for his career, four years after leaving Schalke for the Etihad Stadium.

Herbert Hainer, the Bayern president, has confirmed this week there is still interest in Sane and the German champions will monitor how he progresses in his comeback.

Landing Sane could also break the overall Premier League record of £130million that Barcelona paid for Philippe Coutinho, as City see their forward as comparable to Ousmane Dembélé, who arrived at the Nou Camp in a deal worth £135.5million overall.

Bayern winger Coman also has admirers across Europe after five seasons at the Allianz Arena, two of them during a loan from Juventus.

Coman, 23, has just switched representation to Colossal Sports Management, who will be perfectly placed should he look to join an English team to add to his league titles in France, Italy and Germany.

Colossal represented Raheem Sterling and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in their last deals and have dealt with the biggest clubs in the Premier League.

Zaha has also switched agents recently and is now in the stable of super-agent Pini Zahavi.

His change of representation points towards him wanting to move, six years after returning to Selhurst Park after his ill-fated move to Manchester United. Zahavi has done deals at all the top clubs in Europe, with a move now resting on whether clubs will meet Palace’s valuation of the player. In January they were sticking by their asking price of £80million.

Another player who had interest in January was Red Bull Salzburg forward Hwang. Wolves have been leading the chase for the South Korea international, although there was also interest from Brighton.

With Erling Haaland and Takumi Minamino departing in the window, Salzburg vowed not to lose a third key player in January but Hwang’s future will be on the agenda again in the summer.

Benrahma will also be on the wanted list of the top clubs after impressing in the Championship during two seasons at Griffin Park.

The Brentford forward reached double figures for goals last season and is on course to repeat that in the current campaign. Arsenal are among the Algeria international’s admirers.

Traore seems like a massive trap to me, he’s done well in games when he can ruin teams on the counter but his end product just seems off.

Someone said we turned down signing Salah when at Roma because lack of end product.

I rather have Traore than Bebe tbf. Maybe that would make team stop pushing so high up against us.

He got 15 goals and 13 assists in just 31 games in his final Roma season.

“When Chelsea gazumped Liverpool for Salah in January 2014 there was desolation, but when Salah re-emerged, at Fiorentina then Roma, Liverpool could marry that evidence with all their glowing research on him as a youngster. They knew Chelsea would not want him, Sp**s could not afford him and that he was not one for the Manchester clubs. They saw him as a natural Arsenal signing and were amazed that Arsenal’s Italian scout had thought Salah “wasteful”.”

Rubbish, like Wenger needed a scout to tell him anything about an established player like Salah.

Well in the end Wenger hsd no control. Gazidis and statDNA vetoed Wenger of signing Griezmann.

I think we win league easily if Wenger was still in control of transfers in his final 4 years.

Hopefully that scout changed careers.

If they don’t get top four they’re in serious financial trouble. Been making massive losses for years now.

Made a lot of expensive busts in the transfer market. Kepa and arguably Jorginho were bad buys.
They've been missing Emenalo and a lot of the staff that was run out of town on Mourinho's second tour. Still think some of their young academy graduates are far too good and will develop nicely though.

Though, I primarly remember that most on this forum has that same oppinion and even mocked some of us for having a high opponion for him.

It's not been the club only.

Pep needs him to win the CL.

I think Pep is broken to the point now, were even having Messi wouldn't make him win the Champions League...would still try some weird ****, like playing an entire backline of forwards or something

Don't tell me you don't rate Messi

He both rates him, and doesn't rate him...by having every opinion, he can never be wrong!
