Dennis and Sarr should both be playing for top 10 clubs, i think they're both real quality players. Forest showing a lot of ambition this summer, but we've seen it before with the likes of Fulham it by no means guarantees safety.

Steve Cooper seems a real talent of a manager tho. A lot of these jojo clubs in recent years haven’t really had any pedigree of managers imo. I rated Daniel Farke tho, must be said

I don't really rate Sarr, to be honest, but Dennis is definitely a talented striker. Would be an astute signing for Forest.

Of course, but most players tend to be influenced by what happened in their childhood onwards rather than before. Like how many 25 years old really care about Koeman, Romario etc? Or even Cruyff?

In the same way we are dining off TH, but far less of the kids today care about much before that.

A lot, its passed down.

In continents like South America its huge, parents idolise Barcelona/Madrid and it gets passed down generations.

You can even apply the logic to leagues, La Liga and Serie A hold a certain prestige in South America, that again has been passed down generations and will continue to do so.

The Henry and Arsenal comparison is nowhere near the same.

There are certain clubs which have so much prestige that players will always hold them to a certain level unless there is complete destruction which includes relegations and depths which Barcelona wont hit when they are essentially in a 2 horse race.

You're talking like Barca are dead, they finished 2nd last season, CL every year and have strengthened.

Also, De Jong for one cares about Cruyff and Koeman.

Raphinha will care about Romario.

They will always attract players who will leave a legacy to follow.

I feel like they've gone a bit OTT with the squad rebuild. They have signed over 10 players.
IIRC they pretty much had to, because they had a ****load of loans last season.

If all their signings come in, their starting 11 looks decently strong. Depending on how fast the manager gets them into shape and considering how good Fulham looked against Liverpool both teams *could* make some impact this seaon leaving a very interesting relegation battle.

Nottingham didn't have squad that can compete in PL even thier manager admit that. So understandable they brought many players but if they failed to stay up then gonna be mess for them.

It's unlike video games all these players new they don't know eachothers they'll have to settle quick or it could be problem if they don't.

Isn't there a limit in the Championship on the number of players a team can loan?

I'm certainly not talking like Barca are dead. Of course they aren't. They are only a decade away from the best team in living memory, and as you say are still more than decent.

Indeed a certain degree will be passed down, and for each club in some parts of the world more than others. And yes different players from different 'schools' will care about long gone stars if they are inspirational to those people. Like no one gives a **** Lineker played for Barca despite doing pretty well there and being until recently England's record scorer. In the same way that no 15 year old from France now is interested that Romario played there, but Messi will be a huge factor for years to come.

Their reputation is huge and rightly so, but if they keep forcing players to give up tens of millions of pounds in wages, that will have an impact, because players and agents will see it as a huge risk - and the further away they are from being the best team in the world, the greater that impact.

Its one reason why they are buying stars despite the economic insanity of doing so. They recognise that a superstar player is worth more strategically than their performances, both immediately and in the longer term. However, much depends on how they manage to juggle things now and in the future when the negative impact of their 'levers' kick in.

Ultimately the relative appeal all depends on what is going on on the pitch. After all, Arsenal are clearly a smaller club than Real, Barca, Bayern etc, but when we were challenging for titles every year, while we lost players to the super clubs, we also had top players reject those clubs to sign for us.

Barca are gambling, protected by the totally bent TV deals created to keep everyone but the top 2 in Spain down, but with the burden they've placed on themselves, if it goes tits up for them, even just to a few seasons without CL and having to sell stars, we could have a Villas Boas negative spiral. Unlikely, but still possible given how badly they've run the club for the last decade.

In addition to all that, young kids now have easy access to the footage of old legends unlike previous generations. A 10 year old kid could very well idolize Dennis Bergkamp off old footage on YouTube, the odds double if their parents or an older relative show them such footage.

Willian terminates contract again 🤔 possible move to Fulham could be interesting?
Apparently he has been getting grief online from Corinthians fans so wants to come back to London
I actually feel a bit sorry for him.
Perhaps he just can't cut it anymore? Shame it seemed to happen our watch but It happens.
