3 intelligent world class players will easily figure it out. Olise to the right. musi in the middle and wirtz to the left with freedom to come inside. Easy
That greatly lacks explosiveness. A club like Bayern can certainly carry that many top players but most modern teams have a different set up.

A 1on1 player to stretch would balance the side. But yeh could just sign 1 on top of these guys and rotate.

Musiala might not be your standard speedy winger but he does not lack explosiveness

Good news for us they'll now have all of Gnabry Sané and Coman who we can be linked to all summer.

How Sane these days. You think he could come to the PL and rip it or is he slowing down?

Wirtz is always going to Bayern Munich. Thankfully he not joining man City because perfect replacement to De Bruyne

Yep more mean stretching sides, width wise. Wirtz and Musiala aren’t touchline wingers and will want to mostly play things centrally / in the channels. Olise it sounds like is playing quite wide there but same thing.

It’s not a bad problem to have, you could adopt a system where you play 2 holding midfielders behind them, and fullbacks who love to overlap and give width. Already have one at LB.

As inconsistent as he's ever been. Some days he's unplayable, others he's useless, doesn't look like he's slowed down physically but with the constant niggles I wouldn't be surprised if his pace went in a couple years.

Sort of deal United make and are then left holding the dogsh*t contract when he’s fully washed a year later.

Absolute time bomb of a signing that would be considering he’d be asking for stupid money as a free agent.

Unfortunately Man United are too **** to even be linked to these kind of people anymore. Otherwise they would have soaked up 80% of the links.

Although if they get CL football that changes in the media’s eyes.

If they’re offering stupid money they’ll sign one of the three.

If they lose Fernandes to Saudi that squad is going to be diabolical next year.

Football has officially moved away from these types of contracts I think, even idiots like United under their new ownership.

I called this like 7-8 years ago. I said that it’s stupid giving all this money to someone who is odds on to regress and mentally be on the beach, when you can sign someone with resale value and appreciation.

I think this has become a massive thing recently. When you look at some of the top clubs in the PL (Arsenal, United, Chelsea) they have actively moved away from this in recent years.

Liverpool set the agenda a decade ago and it’s still looking like the best practice for a top club who have an eye on the budget, sign 23-25 year olds who have experience under their belt but ready to go up a level.

Yeah it’s not become as commonplace as expected but it’s still formed the backbone of recent recruitment by the big 2 in Spain who can’t compete with the PL for transfer fees.

Nah you missed my point grandpop. Not just talking about signing ‘young’ players. In fact I don’t mean that at all. I see footballers in 4 age categories: young players who are raw and haven’t gotten much football under their belt, players who have played a good amount of first team football with potential to go up a level (what I am talking about here), players in their prime, and players past their prime.

Signing young players who are still quite raw (something we have made a habit out of doing in the past) takes a lot of upskilling. It takes time and means your team isn’t good enough to win things in the short term. A problem we faced is by the time we had some top class players they would leave as the rest of the team was filled with more projects (Fabregas, Nasri, RVP), weren’t good enough to reliably win major honours. The time line of developing top players was way too long, makes it hard to align and actually build a top side.

But when you sign highly promising players in that 22-25 year old range, if you get it right you can be looking at a squad filled with top class players in the space of a couple years if managed right. You are tightening the time period. Its more conducive to a side being serious about winning big things soon, while not blowing money on finished articles on big wages.

Liverpool are the poster club for this. They did it with Salah, Mane, VVD, Alisson, Fabinho, Robertson, Firmino to varying degrees- signing them in a 2 year window. Then they won the PL, CL, FA cup and now another PL with most of that batch.

Agree with this in the main but just want to point there’s exceptions for prodigal talents. Like Joao Neves and Desire Doue who were babies but everyone could see their talent and now they’re favoured to knock us out of the CL ( 😭 )

Yeah agree. First rate young players are more likely to start adding things immediately if they meet potential, can sometimes be a market opportunity of signing an elite player for a reasonable fee. We haven’t signed enough of those tbh. Only one I can think of is Saliba.

It’s funny though because the one time we actually adopted the approach of signings players with a level to go up as I mentioned (signing Ødegaard White Gabriel types), we made a big leap and started becoming a serious side.

They need a massive rebuild so we're going to see some proper disgusting stuff this summer.

Pretty funny how many people just forgot the 115 charges because of how poor they were this season but this will be a good reminder when they throw a combined £300m at new players this summer despite spending big every year.

Their 200m spend in January has already been brushed under the rug as well

It's ****ing disgusting isn't it? Arsenal getting trolled by official accounts saying that City will still finish above Arsenal in their "worst ever season" yet they just casually omit City dropped £200m in January while Arsenal has had the worst injury record in the PL.

****ing hope they get sent to the shadow realm.

Fabinho and VVD were 26+ so was Alisson even if you didn't mention him. I don't think the players you raised are comparable either - Robertson was a brilliant under the radar pick up, Salah is obviously generational but him and Mane still needed Klopps roid regime to explode. Firmino looked well overpriced for a good while after he was signed and while Fabinho and VVD were good transfers they came for massive fees and were obvious to anyone as was their goalie.

Regardless I don't think the 22-25 age thing is something that Liverpool were even close to being the first to do, it's obviously the best age to get players in. Not buying that it's the only way to success either, Madrid for years kept winning titles with either old guys that were at the club for ages or teenagers.

Fabinho was 24 when he signed for Liverpool actually. Salah 25, Mane 24, Robertson 23, Wijnaldum 25, Firmino 23. I’m spot on man, you’ve spoken about things aside from my point. Talking about roid regime, overpriced at the time (which ended up being a bargain) and an incorrect age for Fabinho.

My point isn’t about how well known they are. In fact, people of that age bracket are pretty well known players, but there’s a level to go up in a new environment. Unknowns would usually be the first bracket I mentioned where players are much more raw.

Never said it was the only way to success. But it’s a great way to success for the reason I explained; timeline and hitting it big quickly if you get it right (while also having a long runway of success as we have seen with Liverpool).

Also, football has changed? You’re talking about things in the past (not surprised with you 😉) . The transfer window and the way it works has changed massively over the last 10-15 years. In the Banter Era we could sign these random unknown players from France uncontested for peanuts. These days there’s way more money in football and also across the PL. You’re getting really raw players going for crazy money.

The bracket of players I speak about are very well known in today’s world, and sometimes come expensive. But it’s the best age bracket to buy at imo (it’s where I think the highest frequency of signings a club like us or Liverpool should be making). If you have an immediate need for them in the starting XI that is.

As I mentioned above, look at how we elevated ourselves after the couple years of signing the likes of Ødegaard Gabriel and White. And they’re still young.

Arsenal Quotes

What does Arsenal mean? It means class. The structure of the Club, everything has a classy feel about it. It isn't always about success, there is more than that and this is what makes it a cut above the rest.
