Even if I give him that he doesn't look fully fit, he's been diabolical. Nobody can tell me that Ethan couldn't have done a better job this season. Madueke's season has been nowhere near the level of what Ethan produced last season at RW. He's quite clearly another case of the manager believing he's more clever an everyone else which is comical because there are Championship teams that do the most basic elements of attacking better than we do.
I think yesterday’s result confirmed what we already suspected for a while: this has been an absolute stinker of a signing.

Noni is slightly better than Nelli but he’s still barely good enough to be at a top club. The kind of player you’re not in a rush to sell but not one you’d ever sign if you had an iota of talent ID for attacking positions.

It’s the fact we gave Chelsea money for him, the amount of money, and that Ethan might very have been more productive with the minutes Noni’s had that makes this an absolute stinker of a signing.

Yeah it's the confluence of things. I remember saying probably in a gameweek thread a year or two ago that he'd be an interesting project for very little money, like 20 million max.

When you factor in the fee, it being Chelsea ripping us off again, Ethan and the fact that we still left the LW hole unfilled because some genius at the club saw his putrid tiny sample size there and thought that could work, it's really damning.

We could have had Lookman for 2/3 of the price and maybe had money left over for a backup Arteta trusts more than Nørgaard or a backup keeper that isn't a total calamity. Just a dreadful decision that reeks of Arteta.

Hopefully Berta's influence grows with what looks like a bitter failure on the horizon and he makes some better decisions in terms of attacking profiles going forward because right now we're looking at a guy who so far has spent 150m on Havertz, Fabio Vieira and Madueke for 3 positions that none of them actually play with Vieira of course no longer being here. Add that to the 80m he tried to spend on Mudryk and you can understand this situation we're in perfectly.

He’s absolute not better than Martinelli and he’s 20 times a worse signing than Martinelli for a multitude of reasons I shouldn’t even have to list out

WOAT talent ID for a top coach. I’ll leave Gyok out due to the striker market being tough but don’t forget about him actually wanting Willian as he was starting to decline.

Dont forget about Mount being the plan A ahead of Havertz too.

I’m not gonna argue about who’s less sh*t tbf.

I think Noni’s better but they’re both one footed wingers who run faster than they think. They both have different strengths (that are barely strengths) and weaknesses so it’s really to each their own there, it’s whatever.

You also seem to think I’m saying Nelli was a worse signing? Haven’t said or implied that anywhere m8 lol

The Mount thing is glossed over because of how annoying Havertz is and I also think that he turned us down so fast that people forgot because he signed for United pretty quickly. That and Mudryk in the same year should have set off alarm bells about his talent ID but this is also the same man who was watching Saliba win individual awards on loan in France and still thought that the ghost of Davis Luiz and a Ben White who was getting dunked on weekly were better options. If Tomiyasu wasn't made of glass, we may have sold Saliba for like 30m or something stupid.

They both poor. But one is much more of a goal threat. Can you ever see Duke score 15 league goals? Honestly this guy is the only signing whenever I think of it I get mad. It’s the dumbest transfer ever because we watched him for 2 years in the PL and they made over 20 million profit on him

Think it’s absolutely scandalous that you got Ethan out on loan while we’ve paid our bitter rivals to take this guy off their hands.

Nothing against the player btw, you can see he’s a good guy trying his best. This is all on the manager.

I said it last summer, but you get bombarded by the positive crowd, “everything is great” crowd, “how dare you question anything the prince of darkness says” crowd, “you’re just negative” crowd etc.

I would look to sell now and bring guys like Ethan and Dowman into the fold.

Absolutely hated the transfer when it happened, tried to give him a chance as he looked lively, clearly never going to be good enough for us.

I don’t think he’s as bad as made out here at least compared to Martinelli or Trossard who offer virtually nothing at this point.

Personally think he should play LW when Saka is fit. He’s very inconsistent but has one game in three or four where he’s good.

Just trying to buck back at the overall sentiment. I legitimately think Madueke might be, contextually, one of the worst signings of the past 20 years for us. For what it meant, for whom it meant less game time for, for whom we bought him for, for the amount, for his overall performances, and for the opportunity cost for whom we SHOULD have been in for. There's a few players Im not a huge fan of in this squad, but he's probably the first I would want to get rid off tbh. I seriously do not see it in him to become better than this.

Yeah he’s up there for sure, really really poor.

I don’t get how you watch a guy be completely mediocre in the league, sign him, watch him flop, get lucky that he kind of works in a different position even though it’s led to midfield repercussions that we still are paying for….and then a couple years later decide to sign another player who’s been completely mediocre in the league.
