You know what, I **** on Madueke for being a brainless player at times, and I for the most part stand by his ball iq being a tier or 2 below our level. But I’ll take Madueke being brainless with the general intensity I saw today over whatever tf Gyokeres and Eze served up. Give me the exact same performance and take away Noni’s goal, I’m still taking his performance 10/10 times over Gyokeres and Eze.

As I get older and older I see what non-commitment and lack of effort does to a mission. It just ****ing sucks all energy out of a team and that’s what those Gyokeres and Eze performances did for me

He is a carabao cup player at best, for depth it makes sense. He should not be starting in the PL or CL, actually maybe only against Coventry. His mental attributes don't align well with his physical ones.

AM judging him for no reason. He’s a good player, with occasion final action problems.

In a team that has absolutely no speed, he is a breath of fresh air. A real threat.

Imagine back in 2020 if someone told you that in 2026 our *backup* right winger option who never started a game with the team healthy was a 24 y/o England international approaching 20 caps.

Then imagine being told that most of the supporter base complained about it endlessly.

If he could finish he’d be a superstar. But as it is he’s about as good of a squad player as it gets, works hard, is lively, will score 7-10 goals from his minutes this year. Nothing to complain about here. Probably should have cost 35 million instead of 50 but that’s water under the bridge at this point.

I just know that Noni is bossing it in training every day. Shame it doesn’t click in the PL because his ceiling is very high

Saka isn't a good comparison for him btw, Eze is better and with him you will see the fanbase has clear agendas and biases.

Eze has been stinking up the place for ages, way older and came in at a higher fee with a view of being a first teamer whereas Madueke was a backup.

Yet one you barely hear anyone talk about how rubbish he is.

Just to inform you, my rating for Gervinho is far below backup aka get the **** out
and I'd agree to disagree for any other ratings (since 2010)
Hahaha I think Gervinho got hit by the old “should be a back up player for us but Arsenal didn’t spend money to make that happen” bucket.

He joins Giroud in this situation.

Gervinho shouldn’t have been the man we were relying on. So when we started playing him week in week out the pressure was on. If Gervinho was our backup winger for LW and did a job at RW sometimes too, then woulda been ok. But that’s just my opinion.

If we let’s say signed Hazard and Higuain like we were linked. Then Gervinho and Giroud would have been fantastic depth. Unfortunately, we had no ambition and were served **** sandwiches as fans.

He gets too much flak. He isn't as bad as people make him out to be. Great finish for the goal yesterday. Definitely a proper backup for a top club.

I thought he played really well against Ipswich. Direct, took risks and there was end product more often than not.

He needs to string 4-5 appearances at that level together. It's consistency that is the issue.

Yeh the criticism after Napoli was weird. He’s been fine so far. We saw so much of Madueke with Gyokeres at CF, Martinelli at LW, Mosquera at RB and Eze at AM last season. As a low IQ player you can’t be surrounding him with low touch players like that.

Earlier last season when we were playing more fluid football he was playing pretty solidly. We got tired of the stodgy football with no ideas in attack, we projected a lot of frustration to him because he’s erratic.

I want to judge him after seeing him play next to Havertz, Ødegaard and Rice/Bruno behind him at RCM. If Madueke can be the little bro of the team and get carried by highly technical smart players, I think his erratic but high risk // high reward play can be useful.
This basically applies to everyone tbh, even Gyok (not this low confidence form) would look decent if he was dropped into our strongest XI.

This isn't to dismiss your points tbf. I think that's how rotation should be, 1/2 players coming into a strong side instead of wholesale changes where the flaws of each squad player are maximised.

Arsenal Quotes

Robert Pirès was a fabulous player, world-class, and for a few years, before his injury, he was unquestionably the best left-midfielder in the world by far. He had incredible technique, he was smart, a finisher. He was a killer with a smile, the gentlest man in the world who suddenly drive the ball exactly where it was needed.
