Yeah honestly I knew he hadn't played all that much football(although I was usually focusing strictly on him barely playing LW in his career) but yesterday was the first time I really looked into it and saw just how little he's actually played.

I understand the skepticism and I still have doubts myself but at the very least, it's not like he's had so many reps at this point that you can really rule out improvement. Just going by minutes, I do think it's possible that he's not anywhere near the finished article and something can still click for him to become a guy with more consistent end product because the raw ingredients are very good.

I even look at something like his set piece delivery yesterday which was immaculate and contrast that to how poor it was in his spell deputizing for Saka and it's hard not to think that maybe if he's focused enough and wants it bad enough, he can improve every weak part of his game in that same way.

I'm not sure he's better than Saka because Saka has been putting them right on top of the keeper consistently for 2-3 years now but he's definitely closed the gap a lot more than I thought he would. Eze takes a really good corner as well from the left side so he's another option if Rice isn't on the pitch.

I was thinking the same thing during the game - a couple months ago I said something to the effect of 'obviously Madueke should never take a corner again' and then against Leeds he's just pinging them in and you'd never have known it wasn't Saka if you couldn't see the player taking the corner.

Speaks well to a player working hard and improving.

This is it.

He needs to learn that if he has to use 100% of his pace to beat a defender it’s going to affect the quality of his shot/pass/cross. He’s fast enough that just getting that number down to 80% maybe even 90% of his sprint speed will lead to a big improvement.

If he is going to blow past his defender at 100% then he needs to have a clear plan/visualise what he’s going to do when he does get past them.

Easier said than done but doing this will turn him into a top player.

I didn’t like the signing, was optimistic after his first few appearances for the club but the g/a return has brought me back to doubting him. I think he’d need to reach Wiltord/Ljungberg levels to be considered a successful signing for the price we paid and I don’t see that happening with what he’s showing right now.

Good luck with that one. At their best, both were capable of reaching double digits in goals alone in the Premier League. Ljungberg won POTS for us too, so that's maybe a bar too high. Madueke’s ceiling is a poor man’s Jeremy Doku. The quintessential “on his day” player who can wreak havoc once in a while, but flatters to deceive for the majority of the league campaign.

Considering Noni has been in and out, as well as injured, 7g/a is a decent return imo.

Think the Chelsea game was one of his poorer performances though, didn’t have the guile to trouble Cucurella much.

He's scored from a corner and given devastating deliveries both with corners and crosses. I wouldn't rank them but it seems we have 2 right wingers capable of giving world class deliveries
