More an experiment than anything. Will really show whether Arteta has it in him to develop a player with his attributes and if he does get him producing then he deserves credit tbf regardless of how much the club paid for him.

Madueke does have the raw attributes that he can work with and like SMDave said in the video, he was praised for his work with Raheem Sterling at City so it’s interesting whether it all does come to fruition as that was questioned when he came to us. Small snippet earlier in the season but I do like his directness and confidence to take a shot regardless of whether it’s a bit sketchy at times. Can’t stand players who always go for the safe option:

All fair analysis, but this is a prime example of what Arteta thinks of in his recruitment.

“How can X player give me a tactical option I don’t have”. We did the same with Kai. Got hammered away against City where they hoofed it up to a big striker, avoiding out press, so we needed the same.

This is obviously a fair way to go about things, but I feel Arteta rates this more than actual proven, established quality.

I’d be fine doing this if we had another proven top level attacker, but we don’t (hopefully Gyok can prove himself).

Is he with the squad now? Interested to see him play to see if he will be on the left or right

As much as I had reservations about whether this was necessary considering some of the other options available on the market, SMDave does make a good point in the video he just dropped regarding Noni Madueke that he’s only played 7707 professional mins which is less than a few names like Jude/Saka even in their late teens, so there’s still a lot for them to work with.

He also mentioned about having a left footer on that flank being able to drill a first time cross across the box similar to what Xhaka did in 22/23 being able to unlock Ødegaard and assist Gyokeres + cause chaos.

I definitely agree on the part that Trossard and Martinelli usually take so many unnecessary touches which slow down our transitions and enable the oppositions defence to regroup.

very very interesting, so madueke potential will become temu xhaka role then which is we missed xhaka on LHS

Likewise but I think what might take the pressure off the left side is if Gyokeres hits the ground running. Unless Arteta gets him to do something which he wasn’t doing at Sporting then he’ll provide a threat from the left flank when he drifts wide which may take the pressure off our other wide men on that side.

I kind of see what @Trilly was mentioning about needing a player with pace, direct as well as the need I think for someone that’s able to drift centrally if needed, parts of it sound like Nelli but he’s just a$$. I don’t even rate Trincao as highly as others do here but he has a bit of a burst in the way he plays and it combined well with Gyokeres helping him to end the season with 30 G/A in all comps. Not saying we should get him but we need something a bit more refined - for example a player like Dembouz would have been perfect in our system.

It’s hard to see Arteta allowing this to happen, we all know how rigid he is in attack, especially with the wingers (See past clips of him berating Trossard and Ethan for not holding width).

Dembouz would be great mainly because he’s a proven top wide player. Can go 1v1, playmake and finish. Thats what we needed out wide this summer for me.

@db10_therza and I had this convo a season or two ago, amidst all the inverting hype it seems to be forgotten that having a quality ball striker playing on their strong foot is a real weapon in attacking areas. Whether that’s crossing or shooting across goal. I’ve been interested in seeing Saka on the left or Rice on the right at times.

I guess Madueke LW is another example of that although I’ve no idea what his crossing is like though. Saka on the other hand does have elite crossing and I’d say cutting in and shooting might be the only thing that Noni’s better than B at. Maybe we’ll see them interchanging PSG style so we can use both of their weapons.

These clips are interesting to me. Obviously he hits the corners because these are montages but I still think you can see clear developments in his technique.

In the first one, from two years ago, he’s extremely tight when he hits those curlers and the set up is very robotic and always the same. Makes me think of the way Martinelli would hit curlers.

In the second two, which are more recent, he is so, so, much freer. Leg is more extended, more variety in technique, set up etc. much harder to read.

Arteta will take a lot of credit if we see him improve, but it looks to me as if this lad is doing everything he can do be best player he can be already.

The fact there are three seperate videos/training sessions is a good sign, it indicates dedication to his craft but also consistency.

This kind of work ethic is good to see and what sets the best players apart, hopefully we see some improvement from him at Arsenal.

League is very weak
He’ll be the surprise package of next season unless Gyok comes here and scores 30 in the league.

Just hoping this is our left wing saviour. Martinelli is completely useless and needs to move to another team for his own good.

Sounds like freedom.

In the land of the blind. The one eyed man is king. His reputation will sky rocket because he’s compared to Martinelli

Bar is low on the left wing, very low. He will look like prime Ronaldinho compared to the sh*te we have been served.

He can dribble and he direct that alone make him 2nd best winger at club behind Bukayo lol the issue his decision making as bad as Martinelli also he left footed so that another problem he better as RW

At the start yes….but as time goes on it will sink in he’s not the solution just cause the other option was worse

Arsenal Quotes

I want a fan to wake up in the morning and say, “Arsenal are playing today, I’m going to have a good time.” That guy starts his day off by thinking that something good is going to happen to him. And to do that, big clubs like Arsenal have to have the ambition to play spectacularly. Of shared happiness.
