Elanga has been poor for Newcastle, on the bench a lot.
yeah but he has 50% more minutes than Noni and cost more. This shows Noni was ok Value.Elanga has been poor for Newcastle, on the bench a lot.
If this was Pep yeah, under Arteta I’m not sure he does that.Looks sharp. Impressed with his last two starts.
No chance. Saka is huge for our creativity overall. If Madueke improves his productivity, he'll be ahead of Saka. Tough but that's football
That's exactly what I've been thinking. Madueke has arguably had a better season so far. Saka has scored the goals though. If Madueke improves his productivity, he'll be ahead of Saka. Tough but that's football

If Madueke does enter the main starting lineup, it'll be with Saka on the left.

I fully understand people hesitant about making Saka "sacrifice" anything at all given his popularity and all that, but sometimes it's just the best thing for the team.Called for this in the summer but let's just say there wasn't much positivity around Madueke at the timeI fully understand people hesitant about making Saka "sacrifice" anything at all given his popularity and all that, but sometimes it's just the best thing for the team.
I rate Saka incredibly highly which is why I don't see the problem in moving him to the left side. Sure you might see like a (arbitrary numbers here) 5% dropoff or something but his game is much more suited to that type of winger game than Madueke. It reminds me a lot of when we had Kudus. He was so obviously better on the right than on the left and given Bowen could do a proper job at CF, Bowen was the one that was moved despite being our best attacker. All the hype Kudus got came from him playing on the right.
Hell all you have to do is look at someone like Rooney, the guy could bang 30 goals a season as the main outlet up front but so often he was shifted around in his position/role depending on the squad makeup and it made everyone around him better.
It's not as simple as end product. It's about synergy and what makes the attack function best. Nobody has ever had the end product to justify moving Messi but he's moved to different positions in different squads based on how to best make that team go.Noni doesn't have a the end product to justify switching Saka.

Saka also looks good on the left. One of his best goals this season came on the left and he has absolutely no issues beating has man there just like he does on the right in addition to it putting him in a position to do what he's best at more which is fire in accurate crosses on his left foot. There's also nothing preventing them switching flanks throughout a match.
Especially with Trossard on fire.I would like to see it, especially if they would swap wings from time to time but I don't think Noni (at this stage) is decent enough for it to be a full time strategy
This is an important point for me. For example Saka got switched during the game and ended up on the left against Olympiakos. I’m all up for instilling unpredictability and switching wings, because it’s fair to say we can be predictable. If Noni’s on fire then it’s Saka left wing with interchanging throughout the game.
