No it’s not. It’s the fact that his best position is RW, which is where our best and only top quality attacker plays.

We are paying 50m for a rotation player when we’ve got two duds out on the left.

There would be discussions and some reasonable back-and-forth on this if he wasn't from Chelsea. I'm not saying that it would be a great signing or that everyone would love it, it just wouldn't be like this.

Again, if we were signing this literal exact player and he scored 11 goals in all comps for, say, AC Milan and had regular caps for Italy in the past year ... there is a 0% chance that #NoToMadueke is trending on Twitter or that there's the sort of insane backlash we're seeing here.

That price is also just kind of the price now for a mid-level U25 player on a quality UCL-level team. Opinions haven't caught up to inflation rates on transfer amounts. Comparable player to Elanga and Kudus, pretty much the same price.

Without the level raiser LW, Madueke might be the hill that Arteta dies on. Blows my mind that he's gone all chips in with Madueke considering the options out there and optics of this deja vu. It does speak to Arteta's arrogance, as he seems to believe he's hacked football with his divine tactics. Unfortunately for us this means he's only a good coach when he could be a great one if he wasnt so stubborn and surrounded by yes men.

Gabriel Heinze sure doesn’t look like a yes man, to be fair.

Mad dog will be starting to the left doing what a confident Martinelli does: go past the fullback on the outside, get to the assist zone and cut it back. His left footedness will force him to stay wide which is what Mikel wants.

To be honest it kind of makes sense, because we don’t have any width on the left hand side. MLS is inverted, Rice is a right footed box to box up playing LCM. They both are coming inside.

A pacey dribbler who is left footed would be able to hold the width properly.

I just wish we did it with a better player but I see the logic.

Whats the point in having a meltdown before he's even played a pre season match for us.
Its okay to disagree with the transfer, but we dont know the plan behind it, who else where avaliable(with our budget) or how it will turn out yet. Give the guy a chance

I tend to judge a player's signing at the end of their Arsenal career, not the start of it.

I mean, it's fair to have a discussion about a player and where he fits and if he's the right target at the right time and the right price ... but the reactions to this signing are absolutely batsh!t insane.

This is a 23 y/o full England international who scored 11 goals last year being signed for comparable money to comparable players. I'd agree that I would have preferred to have signed more of a pure LW than a 'RW who can play LW' but this is very obviously a good player and not the Worst Signing Ever.

This supporter base is just comically triggered whenever we sign an ex-Chelsea player and lose any/all perspective about the player and the situation. If we'd signed Salah or De Bruyne away from Chelsea you'd have seen 90% of their posters here losing their minds about that, too.
