There's a big chance this guy is our LW signing. Think about it guys. Why would we spend 50m on a Saka backup when we could get someone like Bakayako or even use Nwaneri in that position?
Madueke is more likely than not going to play at LW. Look how quick the news went from Eze to him...

good arsenal not mentally challenged as i expected.

and after what we paid for Šeško i can see doing similar thing with this dude Arsenal should really walk away if Chelsea keep asking 50M i'll only pay 50M if it's 35M base fee
The strategy is clear. Get agreement with the player and tell them to force a move to lower the price

Well that completes the squad then. Underwhelming set of wingers aside from Saka. Also means Ethan will be an Ode backup.

Edit: If we like the player we should have just signed him from PSV. Now we’re paying Chelsea more than they did back then. For a player who’s definitely hasn’t improved or proven he can handle the level of the PL.
I think he presents some useful attributes as a squad player. As much as we don’t like this signing you can’t really argue with someone who has the following per90 stats:

94th percentile for non pen xG
93rd percentile for shots
99th percentile for progressive carries
87th percentile for non pen xG+xA
76th percentile for successful take ons

All while playing for a Chelsea team that are a bit meh. That is an impact sub if I’ve ever seen one and I wouldn’t have an issue with this being a Trossard replacement or something.

My issue is with the wider strategy, this reeks of Mikel’s bias to PL proven players especially when it comes to squad players. We could get Gittens for a similar outlay and he actually has top class potential even if his floor is a bit lower.

Can we get Merse to break the news of this signing?

Okay a lot of this outrage is giving herd mentality.

Let’s calm down a little bit. Rodrygo still seems to be the no1 target and yeah the club has history for being awful in the transfer window, but all the reports continue to insist that this signing doesn’t block Rodrygo or even Eze.

I’ll be one of the first to insult him and Mik if the window turns out as bad as it looking and I dislike our transfer business as much as anyone but we should probably give our new highly respected DoF the benefit of the doubt for at least one transfer window maybe?

Whilst I agree with you, the bits I've bolded in your comment are such a repeating problem for this club its beyond frustrating.

Hopefully the DoF can lead us in another direction, but how many times have we been down this road, I like your optimistic hope, but we all know the likely destination we are heading to with this summers ride.

Too many times have we all been burnt, I'm tired man..

You and me both brother.

I’m almost choosing to give the club the benefit of the doubt because it’s the option that brings me the most peace.

I’d rather be angry from when the window closes than be angry from now
imo this guy isn't bad player he'll be backup to saka and might play some games as LW and i'm unsure he'll even play LW because he rarely played there i'm just angry about the price we gonna pay hopefully not 50M but we really need backup RW.

don't think people would be that angry if Madueke was playing for some club other than chelsea.

Fair enough.

I don't get too into the transfer rumours to much but this one has sent me a bit.

It just has a mix of so much what we've seen before resulting in fear of Nonsense Madueke's arrival at the club.

Everytime this club pulls most of us back in, builds up the relationship with the fanbase and reduces the toxicity, it then goes and repeats patterns which pushed us away.

I'm trying to hold judgment but the club needs to do something that isn't this level, give us the big fish first and then hurt us at least!
