I don’t get how that happened though, Chelsea fleeced Arsenal and United for Havertz and Mount respectively.

They very publicly needed sales for PSR.

Havertz had done nothing there, his best football was at Arsenal. Mount had a year left and went for 60m.

Two insane sales there.

I wonder how much of it is American owners helping each other out.

Mount at least had one quite good season a year or two back and was a HG England international.

The Havertz one is just…idk man.

Definitely criminal activity. Worse still we made sure to buy Havertz before the end of June so that they could circumvent PSR penalties, and we had to go back several times with improved offers to achieve it too.

Even that's too much, he went there for under 30m and did nothing. There's no reason whatsoever to do business with them in the first place but even worse to pay anything that's not a rip-off level bargain.
Kinda amazing you buy a player for 28.5 million. Doesn’t do much and becomes surplus and his value almost doubles. I’m convinced this is + 50 million signing

Basically confirming that Edu was a low T yes, man with that hanger on Ayto to boot. Now, we have a DoF who stands up to the angry dwarf. Let the good times roll.

Yeh ****, forgot about that. I remember being really pissed off about how we had the upper hand in that negotiation:

- They needed to sell him
- PSR deadline was coming
- Havertz was a flop there

And we still ended up paying the absolute maximum value you can potentially expect to pay for him.

Edu was a pushover at these things. Havertz should have been signed for £40-45m and accepted £200k a week. If not possible Edu should have told Arteta to shut the **** up and move onto other targets.

Yea overall worst transfer ever. Still think this is more on Arteta than Edu, Edu was useless but he probably didn't want to get sacked so he did as he was told. Arteta is the one who insisted on signing his son's lookalike.

Do we think Mik told Edu to sack his own son to test Edu's loyalty?

Agreed. It’s almost like we’re paying them for taking the risk on bringing him to England.

I guess their logic is he’s at least proven that he’s squad player level. I’d rather have gambled on someone in Europe but we know Mikel values ‘PL experience’.

I feel like we could literally sign Lookman for what Chelsea want for Noni. That’s insane.

I keep reading we need to sell Martinelli to buy for example Rodrygo, but buying Madueke for 50m casually is no issue? Isn't it better to keep the money for more expensive signing?
