Still think he can do a proper job for us as a LCM but we wont play him there. and he is not a LB though.

Arteta choosing to do this now shows just how desperate he is.
LCM Zinchenko should've happened much sooner.

Nah he's just rotating, he's never seen Zinchenko as a good LCM.

What he should've done and should do is sell him.

He would have been more useful in midfield all along his stint here, but he's clearly on way out of the club so it's all water under the bridge at this point. He needs to get to a club where he can be a regular starter unlike here or at City. He isn't young anymore.

Let's apply some critical thinking here. It is his fluidity, ability and willingness to play vertical passes and break lines from a position closer to goal that people are alluding to. Especially in games where we've been chasing a goal against mid/low block teams. We had a redundant left side for a very long time and lost games after simply making straight swaps but playing in exactly the same rigid system.

This isn't revolutionary - it's how Pep used him off the bench in his final season, and generally where he plays for Ukraine.

It's not desperation. It's a coach being a coach. Many other coaches would throw their hands up over the fact that their players are injured. We have a manager that is willing to try things in training and use it. Zinchenko being used in that position is obviously something they worked on in training and with his high technical ability and not having to focus on defending too much, it worked out well. Let's give our manager some credit here, he did well given the circumstances. However, that front 3 we started with yesterday was really shocking.

Produced a better strike than Ødegaard has managed in months

I only watched the highlights to be fair, hopefully his general play was decent apart from the goal

This is definitely something we should have tried sooner

To be fair, Zinchenko played in that role many times for both City and the Ukraine national team. It was only when he came to Arsenal that he was fixed at LB. I'm very surprised we didn't try him even once in midfield when Ødegaard was hurt and we were clearly lacking incisive passing there.

Did he really play there much for City? And I don't mean just garbage minutes. I don't remember.
