Our next 8 games...

It raises an interesting deeper question for me actually.

What type of performance with those eight games, would put Emery's position under threat?

Two more losses, three more?
It would have to be something dramatic like more than half of those games.

Meh I think we’re not there yet. 5 wins, two draws, one loss.

Draw against Newcastle and Everton, loss against palace.
Everton have been playing boring football for centuries except the Martinez days.

I have no respect for Rafa too, that guy is promoting anti-football.

All winnable games. But Newcastle, Everton, and Palace will be tricky. I think we should hope for 20 pts but expect 17.

We should win all of them. If you're going to sh*t the bed against the big sides(and I'm not discounting how hard the first 2 fixtures were on paper for a brand new manager) then you've got to play the part of flat truck bully well. The only time we've even remotely looked like challenging at any point of a season in the past decade is when we thrashed these teams we were supposed to beat and saved our hiccups for the bigger sides that ultimately finished above us. 24 points after 10 matches with the 2 losses being Chelsea and City and all of a sudden you can look around knowing that you're a maximum of 6 points off the leaders and you've got an opportunity to make a statement this season. A good run gives you confidence heading into the bigger matches that the work is paying off and you can play your football and be successful. Pitfalls against these smaller teams though and doubt creeps in, the supporters get frustrated and restless and the pressure that this same group of players has collapsed under before rears its head again.

Mods are unethical! Özil, come assist me please!
Dropping a single point here and kiss my dreams of challenging for title gone.

Sorry, but I am an optimistic fan that is glad he does not make bets on his own team.

Five wins and three draws but the Europa League factor cannot be gauged at this stage.

I know Emery is a Europa League specialist but I hope he will prioritise the Fourth Place Trophy inasmuch as there will be games in the group stage where we don't need to play our first XI to win. Remember Santi Cazorla playing his last game for Arsenal in a pointless 6-0 thrashing of Ludogorets?

I think we are being over optimistic here, especially looking at the struggles of United and Liverpool this evening.

I personally would be happy with no losses and at least 18 points from 24 out of those games. Think that would be a decent return and a great confidence booster as we develop under the new manager.

I have quite a bit of respect for what Palace is doing against Liverpool tonight. It appears they will be one of our toughest opponents in this series of fixtures.

Playing a real 4 4 2 and making it work pretty descently both in attack and in defence.

You've always got something to add to the discussion my friend. Besides it's just a purple patch.

An optimistic one can expect all wins.
A realist knows that a straight 8 wins is a title-challenging run and in this league no match is taken for granted I can't really expect all 24 points. What I would like to see is staying unbeaten during this course.

Even more, I would like to see a side that is improving on a game-to-game basis. I want to notice players understanding the patterns and positions, the compactness while defending and ability to be multi-dimensional if a team figures out the way to defend against us. These were some of the issues we suffered during last Wenger's season.

A lot of tricky fixtures on this list. Crystal Palace and Fulham away might hurt us, Leicester and Everton are no pushovers too, despite us playing at home. No way we will finish this run with more than 18 points. If we somehow manage to go over 20 with a solid display vs Pool then we're up there.

6/6 so far but this is where it gets tricky.

Away to a really tough and dirty Newcastle side who managed to hurt both Sp**s and Chelsea despite their lack of quality.

Then Watford visiting who are currently one of the four 4W teams, with Everton who can punish us on the wings where we are really weak.

After these 3 games, we'll have a much clearer picture of starting XI and what we could be looking forward to this season.

Kenedy who looked like an absolute amateur this season will score against us. Calling it right now.
