I mean, no?

He’s likely second choice with Gabriel ahead of him. Mustafi doesn’t factor in on the left and in a back four he’s ahead of Luiz.
Can you see Luiz being benched? Arteta deems him important as a leader, despite his ****ness in a four.

Mustafi will still be preferred to him, I'm quite certain. Forget the right side/left side thing.

I have seen it already. It's how the restart started. Luiz was a sub in Arteta's original plan for ManCity remember? (Before injuries destroyed that one)

And Arteta prefers his left sided players (especially CB) to be left footed as he's shown numerous times already for example when Kolasinac was surprisingly in the starting line-up. There's nothing to forget here with the *right/left* thing. It's important to Arteta.

So we've bought Mari and extended Luiz, even though we have Saliba and likely Gabriel. Oh, and we've still got Mustafi, Chambers, Sokratis, and Holding.

If that isn't a dog's dinner, what is? Still, Kia getting a few million out of it towards his next yacht.

With none of them even being that good (obviously not including Gabriel or Saliba).
We surely can't afford to pay 8 of them. We'll have to loan or sell at least 3 + Mavro. Otherwise we'll be adding to the £400K Özil and Douzi are getting a week for absolutely nothing. What a club?

The last four are probably going to be sold as soon as we find a buyer. And Luiz is only here on a one year contract, so if all goes well with Gabriel and Saliba this season, we can show Luiz the door.

and Mavropanos re-signed =9 defenders.

Arteta our Renaissance man is fixing was was always Wenger's Achilles heel. Defense.
Over his whole career at Arsenal he easily won the majority of his games. And some seasons had the most clean sheets like 2015/16.

In fact he scored 1.86 goals per game and conceded 1 goal per game over his whole Arsenal career. Compare that with Ferguson who scored 1.93 goals per game and conceded 0.93 goals per game spending 11 times more than Wenger over their rivalry years according to Transfermarkt figures.

'Wenger couldn't defend' was all part of the made up narrative by fans bored with top 4. When you look properly at the stats, it's boll*cks.

Why would you look at stats over Wenger's whole career when he was only good in the first half of it?

On average, he won a trophy once every two years and stayed in the top 4 continuously right up until the fans made it impossible for him to operate. The guy everybody wanted to replace him with couldn't manage 1 year in the top 4 and won nothing.

Impressive! Makes you wonder why he still hasn't found another gig at a top club though. Judging by his interviews he still wants to be in management.. ironic.

stats never lie;) interestingly Wenger's stats degraded over time
from goals conceded 0.91PG 1996-2006 to 1.06 PG during 2007-end

Arteta in his 21 games in charge sits in between with goals conceded 1.04PG.

My point apart from Arteta's stats which are already half -way decent are way off Klopp's =0.84PG 2019/2020.

Arteta our Renaissance man cannot forgotten that over confident Wenger - although stats don't show that - did bring in Squillaci&Silvester to defend against Drogba and the rest .

Well I'm sure after 2004 when Arsenal spending dropped to one of the lowest in the EPL he'd have loved have bought in Maldini to replace Senderos to keep his stats up.
